Biography
Zephyr
ZEFF-fur Bard | Drifter | Hopeless Romantic
Personality: He is cheerful, adaptable and soft-hearted. A natural charmer, he compulsively flirts with others, yet his romantic interests change as quickly as the wind. He can thus come across as selfish, impatient, and unreliable, yet his skills in smooth-talking, diplomacy, and poetry have helped him out of many a sticky situation. He is fascinated by distant lands and peoples, and he badly wants to explore and see new places. His interests include maps, archaeology, tales of adventure and rugged action heroes, and butterflies. Theme Song: "Like the Wind" by NONONO Backstory: At one point during his early years, Zephyr came so close to death that he walked the boundary between the realms of the living and the dead. Having passed from life's domain once, he has a unique perspective on life, perhaps even a greater appreciation for it—particularly, the variety that exists in the world and the wealth of experience that can be gained by broadening one's horizons. Additionally, he grew up knowing a troupe of bards who traveled from place to place with the changing of the wind. They brought Zephyr wondrous mementos and told him of all the places they had traveled and the people who lived there, inspiring a wanderlust within him. As a result, he's never stayed in one place for too long. Romantically, he's had many flings over time, but has so far shied away from any ties or commitments. During his stay in the Clan of the Woven Wave, Zephyr never stopped travelling. He used the clan as a base and brought back tales and songs to pay for his keep. After a while, he began working on a song about a shade-touched dragon who believes the shade to be the way to all prosperity, peace and goodness, though until the disasterous day when so many dragons died, he could not have explained what had inspired the tragic and dark ballad, except that it reminded him of the dragon who went by the moniker of The Peacekeeper. But on the day of the tragedy that killed nearly half of that clan, Zephyr remembered, as he came face to face with the very dragon about whom, it turned out, the song was written. Zephyr had been having dreams, forgotten in his waking hours, that told the story of a young hatchling, who, orphaned and alone, had discovered a dark cave in which dwelt a small portion of the shade. The shade told hatchling, who was eager for a way to stop the warring between beastclans and dragons, that the only way to restore peace, and the only true way to happiness, was through accepting and helping the spread of the shade. The small, vulnerable hatchling listened eagerly, and submitted willingly to the shade taint. Though now The Peacekeeper is largely a very dark individual, at the time, The Peacekeeper was just optimistic and offered a beacon of hope--albeit a very dark and destructive one. Remembering this, Zephyr managed to use his song about The Peacekeeper's childhood and wind magic to repell the wisps of shade and sooth The Peacekeeper into a temporary daze-like state (respectively). Though it did not take long for The Peacekeeper to recover, it bought Zephyr enough time to escape to a safer part of the lair. Not much of a one for fighting, in what others might call cowardice, but what he called common sense (after all, he wouldn't have helped much with any of the fighting--he just wasn't cut out for it-- not to mention that he was the kind who used pen over sword) Zephyr found a quiet back room, into which he barricaded himself. After the fighting was over, Zephyr peered out, and thinking the coast clear, went into the hallway. It wasn't until he heard a terrible roar that he realized that three of the imperials had been slain, and as there hadn't been a chance to cremate them, they had formed an emperor. Fleeing for his life, Zephyr just barely managed to escape. He swam to the surface and "borrowed" one of the boats tethered to the floating platform above the lair. He then headed back to other places he knew--he'd had enough travelling in that subregion for a lifetime. OOC Backstory: Zephyr once belonged to VictoryDance, who was doing a Nuzlocke but gave all of their dragons one last chance at survival, hence Zephyr's backstory about narrowly escaping death.
