In the lands that separated the light and the canyons, in the in between of the Shifting Expanse and the Sunbeam Ruins, there was a vast desert. The canyon's rocky flats drifted fine soil into a salt flat that would slowly lead into the forest of the ruins. It was a sunny, parched area. One could be in the middle of what was called the Sundunes and from the tallest sandhill be able to see the Light and Lightning territories. In the middle, lay now the ruins of an ancient lair. It was founded by two wealthy and powerful mages that reigned from the Shifting Expanse, but felt what they learned from their home was not as fulfilling as the teachings of the Lightweaver. They professed in magic that harnessed the capability of electricity, but it was unlike any other. It did not work on copper coils or machinery, rather produce twice the damage of a lightning strike-- and be the single component to activate a very specific, ancient kind of magic. The electricity was a golden color, or a light green color if you were new to it. With mechanics and incantations seen nowhere else, it became an art that many dragons wanted to learn, even though only a handful of the most loyal mages were ever taught it. The Sundune's kingdom's influence greatly grew, and monuments of sandstone and clay formed a mighty walled city where both Light and Lightning dragons came together and formed a communion. By the elderly ages of the grandchildren of the original founders, the King and Queen of the Sundunes, they had a single young son, Ruhu, who they taught the ancient magics and mechanics that were known nowhere else in Sorineth. However, the wealth of one city was no secret, specifically to whoever it was- the massive clan of pirates that hailed from a foreign land and ransacked the kingdom. It brought the mighty walls down and torched what was once a flourishing lair. Nearly everyone was slaughtered-- and for what mindless reason but the riches that the King and Queen had accumulated in their reign. Piles of gems and trinkets. The King and Queen defended their son, above all else, to their last breaths. And the young adolescent was nearly torn apart by the Mirrors that swarmed him if not for one of the captains, a much larger dragon which Ruhu only imagined was a Ridgeback in his dreams, had stopped them. He was meant to die of his injuries, but by some grace, he survived enough to wake three days later in the darkness of the night. His fear and trauma mindlessly led him out of his home and away.. far away as his shaking body would allow, until some hunters from the Light territory sniffed him out by the scent of dried blood. It was the hunters of this clan that found him. Neptune tended to the boy herself, knowing who he was once she saw his royal adornments and scars. Ruhu has been housed here, trained closely under the clan Matriarch and Patriarch under their protection. They know that if anyone else found out who he was, he would be a target. Some of his clanmates see him as an easy reason for an attack, but the darkest of days has already passed. Ruhu has no treasure or kingdom to his name, only the knowledge of the wondrous teachings of the Sundunes. No one would come after him for that, right? |

He didn't see any defining features to most of them.. most were Mirrors as far as he could tell, surrounding his wounded body like a hoard of wolves over their prey. The tone of one voice which he could not see; a Ridgeback with a strong yet feminine voice, had sent them off before his vision went black.A common dream, the prince had...
