Before the deities, there was color. Before the shade, there was color. Before the ceaseless violence and tumultuous reign of dragons there was color.

Soba remembers when there was only color.

Wisened to a graying muzzle and aching joints, Sobais by far the eldest dragon amidst the Sleetspine clan. Even among his ancient pack of warden gaolers, he is considered older than any dragon ever ought to be. There are whispers of eternal life that reach his tattered ears, but Soba knows they are mistaken.

Eternity? A farce. Nothing made of something as temperamental as magic and as fragile as organs could be eternal. No. The only thing that would always persist was color. Brights and darks, flashes of brilliance, long stretches of vast blackness.

Soba only subscribes to the idea that long before him, and long after him, there will be color.

And so each and every day his claws scratch out colorful paints on any surface he deems fit. Every pigment is thoughtfully prepared, each shade carefully considered. Color is so beautiful, he must give it his utmost attention. For color is eternal, and Soba wishes to leave his mark on this world with only permanent perfection.
