Ryker shook the heaviest globs from his fur and tentatively opened his eyes. A large crash had awakened him, the first sound he ever heard. Large glass shards lay scattered across the wet ground, and as he continued to peer across the dim room, he found himself surrounded by large tubes, each containing a floating body. Whether or not they were alive, he could not tell, but many of them certainly were not dragon.
Tshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
An overhead pipe hissed louder than before, catching his attention. It appeared to be connected to each tank. Ryker watched with innocent curiosity as the liquid in his neighbor's tank began to fizz and turn red. When it was over, the organism was gone. Now, he watched with horror.
A few moments later, the pipe began to hiss again. Ryker could not watch; he lept over the shattered glass toward what appeared to be an exit, but his chest clenched- what can I do? he looked back. The tanks appeared to be held in place by twelve large bolts- six above, and six below. He darted to the nearest tank, biting and clawing at the bolts to no avail. There appeared to be no tools in the room. The second organism had disappeared already. In his fear and frustration, an energy began to snap in his fur, and cracked the glass before him. Ramming into it a few times to encourage the crack to split, cutting his paws and shoulders, the tank finally gave and spilled its contents. The large, pink-and-green dragon within slumped down, but appeared to be breathing.
Time was out.
Ryker and his friend Amelix traveled the land aimlessly, searching for a place to call home, and wondering where they'd come from.
