Nalaas, "Captain of the Guard"

While sentries patrol the outermost borders of the clan, guards protect what lies in the center. Homes, farmland, hatchlings, and sometimes Anthu when she is meeting with dragons from other clans. Nalaas was present at the birth of the clan and is actually the founder of the guard.

Nalaas and Anthu never discuss how they met (hatchlings and young dragons gossip relentlessly as a result), but they are willing to tell the tale of why the guard was created. In the thick of the night many moons ago, a pack of dire wolves invaded the land. Nalaas awoke surrounded by gleaming teeth and snarls, and immediately let loose a battle roar. Anthu heard this and raced over (but weren't you surrounded by wolves too? shh), and bravely fought off the wolves with him. Nalaas earned his cape out of the situation, and also his title as it was then he decided to create the guard.

(In actuality the night of that attack was when they first met, and Nalaas was drunk off his tail for the fight. At one point, in order to save his neck from sharp teeth, Anthu had to bite him and yank him back. To this day, he sports an impressive set of teeth marks on his rear--so he never fully takes off the cape.)
