Charm grew up alone in the Tangled Wood. She often lacked shelter and food, but survived by honing her strength and fighting for everything she could get her claws on. She drifted from clan to clan, never staying long or truly calling any her own. She disliked following orders and preferred the freedom of making her own way, and had still not found the object of her Search.

Eventually she encountered another Guardian, and although he was not the being she was destined to protect, he immediately felt so about her. For a time Charm resented his presence in her life and actively avoided him. She had yet to find her charge, and disliked being faced with one of her species who had. Several months passed, and in her efforts to elude Sabre Charm traveled outside the Wood, into the Viridian Labyrinth. There, she found an Imperial hatchling beset by Centaurs, and was driven to protect him.

Although she was elated to finally find her charge, her joy was tampered by the sheer number and strength of the attacking Centaurs. She managed to fight off several of their warriors, but was injured by an archer. Just went the situation was most bleak, Sabre appeared to save both Charm and the hatchling.

The three dragons returned to the Wood, and Charm began to see a different side to Sabre. Behind his serious demeanor and relentless dedication to fulfilling his purpose was a caring dragon who watched over both Charm and Lumo without asking anything in return. With his aid, Charm began work on what would one day become the Lamplight Guild, and the three dragons have been together ever since.
