A TellTale (choice driven) Style RP Game
Now I do have RP in the title, but I think this works more as a game rather than actual RP soo
This game consists of two groups:
The players and the writers.
The writers start writing a story, piece by piece, giving the players a choice every now and then. Players inspect the game and make decisions based on choices writers give them, those decisions will affect how the story continues - Who lives, who dies and relationships between dragons.
If you want to be a player, you should tell us to add you to the pinglist so you can contribute as much as possible. You can make decisions and ask to be pinged anytime through the game.
If you want to be a player then that's pretty much all you need to know. Just make sure to read the rules and you're good to go.
If you want to be a writer, keep reading!
Every writer will get a price by the end of the game (aka by the end of the episode).
Three people will get a drawing from me - a traditional colored dragon headshot of the dragon used in the game, examples can be found in the 1st art section in this thread.
The rest will get 99 food items of each category and each item with at least 4 food points.
(I would make better prices for the rest, but this is all I can do for now. If this game is succesful enough for more episodes, hopefully I can get more expensive stuff)
Rules
-Stay Civil.
-Don't argue about TellTale Games.
Rules for writers only
-You will reply to the thread within 24 hours when it's your turn.
-If you really can't reply, you have to inform me at least a few hours before your time is up. I will fill your spot.
-If you have to exit the game, we have the right to make your dragon die or make them leave the rest of the characters.
-
Info written in gray is optional, meaning it's not neccessary to read.
What is TellTale?
TellTale was a recently shut down game company, which brought a new inventive style of gameplay to the table. Telltale established itself to focus on adventure games using a novel episodic release schedule over digital distribution, creating its own game engine, Telltale Tool, to support this.
You may know TellTale for games such as: Jurassic Park: The Game (2011), The Walking Dead (2012), Game of Thrones (2014) and many others.
Other popular games of similar style: Detroit: Become Human, Life is Strange, Until Dawn, Oxenfree, Heavy Rain, Undertale.
Why TellTale?
I am using TellTale's name in memory of the great times they brought us. A lot of their games were hit-or-miss or straight up bad, but you can't deny how much they affected the gaming community. Without them, choice driven games would be nowhere as popular as they are now, so the shutting down of the company is still sad news.
How the Game works
In this forum game, we're going to use the decision-based game style similar to the games listed above.
We are going to gather some dragons, one per person, who are all going to play a role through the story as we unfold it.
Basically what this means, is:
Each thread progressing the story is directed towards one or more dragons of other users by the end, giving them a choice. Choices are divided as such:
Choice of four
Choice of two
Appealing choice
Minor choice
Choice of four
It's simply giving a person a choice between four options similar to Telltale games, one of which must always be silence - [...]
Alternatively, you can also use choices similarly to "Detroit: Become Human" when you don't know how the dragon you're addressing would react, but try to keep this minimal.
How it'll look:
Choice of two
Sometimes, a dragon has to make a difficult choice between two things, instead of four and silence won't be an option.
How it'll look:
Appeal choices
Sometimes you have to appeal to someone, which can go from two choices up to the number of all dragons there. Only I can give a dragon a choice of appealing.
How it'll look:
you get the idea
Minor choices
There are also not-so-important choices which can lead to either:
a: changing relationships (in both bad or good ways)
b: obtaining an item which may or may not be useful in the future. The owner of the item decides when and how it could be used.
If a thread won't end with any of the big choices listed above, it should end with a minor choice.
How it'll look:
If you inspect it, perhaps Alice finds out that Mia used to own a dog, but she probably wouldn't appreciate knowing you looked at her stuff without her permission. If you wouldn't inspect it, you wouldn't learn that, but Mia also has no chance of being angry about you snooping in her stuff.
