Rainknight and Asteria knew the moment the egg that speckled much like a galaxy hatched, the dragon inside would grow to be something wonderful. The galactic shell split and crackled, and out crawled Corona. Eyes of stardust stared up at her parents, wings appearing to hold constellations within them as her scales sparkled like stars when light hit them. This young baby looked like she was the pure embodiment of everything celestial. Something unearthly. Something not even from this universe.

Days passed. Months passed. As Corona grew older, more and more of her attention was brought to the cosmos that lazily scrolled above them once the sun went to sleep, and the moon came out to play. She could still play among the stars when the sun was awake; the Starwood Strand was, and still is, her favorite place to go when daytime overrides the darkness. Being around the celestial plain made her feel so at home. Like she belonged there. Like she was meant to be. Like it was destined.


Now that she is an adult, Corona does nothing more but study the astronomy books her father got her, and once the stars started to awaken, she would spread her wings of stardust to climb the earthen atmosphere and breach it to take in her first seconds of being in the cold, dead cosmos. Despite her efforts, it's been near impossible for her to reach it. So close, yet so far. She can touch the stars, if she tried hard enough. She could imagine what it would feel like to fly through clouds of gas and dust. She could imagine what it would feel like being in anti gravity - being given the opportunity to explore places no dragon has ever gone before. She could imagine being the first dragon to ever fuse with space. The first dragon to enter the incorporeal plain and be one and the same with the interstellar objects that slowly drag on across the sky back on Earth.

Someday, she will make it. Someday, her dream will be accomplished. Someday, she will become a dragon among the stars.
