If she's ever unwanted, feel free to send her back to Orgetzu (#103802)

Amegara is a somewhat shy yet excitable skydancer, and tends to go by Meg. She enjoys cooking, but isn't nearly as into it as her father, Spumoni.

Amegara was barely a day old when her father left. She remembered very little about him, other than he talked about cooking a lot, and going back home to see how his family was doing. The next couple days passed by like a whirlwind, and she never got to ask about him. Before she knew it, she was corralled into a pen with her two sisters and some other hatchlings. Some ice dragon came along and took her sisters, and the various other hatchlings were taken by other dragons who passed by. She stayed, watching dragons come and go, until a pink and white skydancer came by and decided to pick her up. She dropped some coins into the waiting hand of the dragon who'd been selling Amegara and the others, and walked off with the little orange and blue skydancer in her arms.

She was an odd skydancer, dressed from head to toe in ribbons and feathers, with lit candles floating at her sides, and skulls adorning her neck, wings, and shoulders. She had a sword strapped around her middle, which looked like it was more for decoration than anything practical, being both thin and pure white. She met up with a few other skydancers, and Amegara learned that this pink one called herself "Kaylee".

Amegara was left with a couple of skydancers, and Kaylee and some of the others went off, coming back with more hatchlings. This was what they'd been here for. There was some mention of serving the Arcanist, but Amegara didn't even knew what that meant, or who the Arcanist was. And she didn't get a chance to ask (nor did she feel like it would be appropriate to) before the skydancers took the little hatchlings they'd purchased, and began the journey home.

Being at Kaylee's home wasn't all bad. Though the skydancer had seemed scary at first, she turned out to not be so bad. (Although she was still kind of creepy. Hard to not be when you're a necromancer, apparently.) And there were other hatchlings there to play with. And a WHOLE bunch of other dragons! Since Amegara was kind of a hard to say and long name, most of the dragons she talked to took to calling her Meg.

And when she got a little older, she started asking about cooking. It was the one thing she remembered very well about her father, and she hoped, if she learned enough, maybe that would help her find him.

Indirectly, however, he found her.

She'd nearly reached adulthood when a small fae had come asking after her. A white and pink fae, not all that different from the skydancer who'd brought her here, was led into the room where Meg had been staying. A blue mirror with purple wings followed behind her. He seemed a stark contrast to the fae, seeming generally grumpy and impatient, whereas the fae seemed calm and kind.

"Hello. Meg, is it?" she started. Apparently Meg's clanmates had introduced her. She gave a nod in response. "My name is Petal. I've come here to find you."

"Me? Why me?" Meg interrupted before the fae had a chance to continue speaking. Rather than seeming annoyed about being interrupted, Petal seemed amused.

"I was about to explain that," she teased.

"Oh... sorry. Go on."

"Well, your grandparents are in my clan. And right now, your father, too."

Meg's crests flared. Her dad? Really? Really really? Surely this fae must be joking, but... no, she was definitely NOT joking. She opened her mouth to speak, but then shut it again quickly, realizing she should just let Petal explain.

"He wouldn't stop talking about you. And your two sisters, as well. I wasn't able to find them, but I did find you. I was hoping you'd want to come with me to meet him."

"I'd love to!" Meg shouted as soon as Petal had stopped speaking. "Uh, sorry, I just... I never got to know him. I wanted a chance to." Petal just smiled. Meg had been forgiven. "...When do we leave?"

"As soon as you're ready."

"I'm ready!"

"You don't to tell anyone or bring anything with?" Petal seemed more concerned than confused.

"I... it's just a visit, right? So, not like I really need to prepare." Meg would miss him when she came back here, but she lived here. And it would still be a chance to see him.

The fae smiled again. "I was hoping you'd come live with us. I already talked it over with some of your clanmates. You were never intended to stay here, anyway."

Live with them? Live with her dad? Her fur stood on end. She'd never expected to meet her dad, much less live with him, as much as she wanted to! "I... yes! I will come! I'll stay! It'll be great!" Petal was right, she was never supposed to stay here. There had always been an intention for her to go live with the Arcanist or something. (Whoever that was. She still hadn't figured it out.)

"I'll wait outside for you." The fae smiled, and started to leave the room. The mirror got up to follow.

"Okay! I'll be there as soon as I can!" Meg started gathering all her stuff she wanted to bring (not that it was a lot, she'd barely been here!) and throwing it in bags to take with her. She dashed out, intent on going outside, but some of her clanmates stopped her. They handed her some bags, explaining that it was food to take with her. It was a lot of food! Of course, they explained, she'd need ingredients if she wanted to learn to cook better! And if her father loved cooking as much as she'd said, he'd definitely be happy to have something to work with. She thanked them profusely, and then hurried outside to meet up with Petal.

"Isn't that a bit much?" the fae asked, seeing the bags, some of which were obviously heavy.

"It's food. They gave it to me, as a parting gift."

"I suppose that's reasonable. Well, let's go, then." Petal led the way, and they flew over the sea, coming to the barren rocky lands known as Dragonhome. Never having been out much, Meg was excited to see anywhere else at all!

Before long, they came to an amazing area that looked to be a mix of just about everything! Foresty planty areas with streams and a large pond, plenty of rocks, lots of tents set up to shade the dragons relaxing underneath, and what even looked to be a pool of lava a short ways off! In the center was a large cave mouth that stuck up out of the ground, leading to whatever caverns lay down below the surface. It was in here that Petal led her.

"He doesn't know I went to try to find you. He'll be quite surprised," Petal said casually as they walked past tunnels and crystals and rocks and dragons and plants and all sorts of other various things.

Meg couldn't reply. She was far too busy quivering with excitement, and trying to take in everything around her.

They entered a cavern where a wildclaw was busy looking through boxes of ingredients.

"Spumoni, I've brought you a special guest," Petal said gently.

He looked up, and his eyes widened when he saw Meg. "Who- Petal, who is that? It couldn't be-?" He, Spumoni, seemed tense. She looked just like one of the hatchlings he'd left behind, but there was no way. She couldn't be. ...Could she?

"It is," Petal replied in a low voice. "I asked around, and I found out where she was."

He dropped what he was holding. "You didn't, you couldn't have." He took a step towards them, not taking his eyes off Meg the whole time.

"I could, and I did," Petal said insistently, her voice still low.

Meg took a step towards the wildclaw, an obvious invitation. He walked towards her, first examining her more thoroughly with his eyes, and then pressing his nose into her fur.

"It is you," he said quietly. "I can't believe it." His voice cracked slightly, tears forming at the edges of his eyes. "When your mother told me to leave, I thought I'd never see you again. Yet here you are."

"I never thought I'd see you either," Meg replied, barely audible. She nuzzled into the fur on his chest, and he put his arms around her.

After what seemed like almost forever, yet at the same time, barely any time at all, her loosened his grip, and looked at where Petal was standing, watching them, quite pleased with herself. He didn't say a word, yet there was an obvious question. Meg freed herself just enough to be able to see Petal out of the corner of her eye. The fae shook her head.

A burst of sadness, of disappointment and longing, came from Spumoni. But then it was mostly replaced with happiness as he hugged Meg a little tighter again. "I'm grateful I at least have one. That's more than I could have hoped for. Thank you so much, Petal. You're amazing."

She smiled and nodded her head. "I understand how important family can be." On that note, she decided her work was done, and showed herself out.

Meg and Spumoni continued being pressed against each other for some time, until Meg finally broke the silence. "My old clanmates sent lots of ingredients with me. I told them I remembered how much you loved cooking, and they wanted us to be able to cook together."

"Well, let's not disappoint," he added rather cheerily. "And cooking is so much more fun when you have someone to do it with."

Meg nodded, and pretty soon was showing everything she'd gotten, and they started talking about cooking. One thing led to another, and Spumoni told tales of his adventures as well. They later enjoyed cooking together, and teaching each other what they knew. (Of course, Spumoni knew a lot more than his barely-an-adult child, but she'd learned a few things before she'd come!) They couldn't have hoped for a happier ending.
