The first memory Heartrune has of his past was when his mother handed hima stone and told him "Take this heartrune, it will keep you safe" just before sending him out into the wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth. He mistook that as his name and has called himself that ever since. HeartRune is known for his benevolence. He will take in any tired dragon, and let them live with the clan for as long as they need. But he doesn't excuse free-loaders, and requires that permanent members of the clan bring something useful to them in time. HeartRune is usually a serious coatl, and puts his clan before his own life. Sometimes that went a little too far, and often he was left too exhausted to even eat. When he first took leadership, he would not let those within the clan help him in anything, but he's gotten better, and with so many dragons so willing to help, it was hard to refuse. Now that they are settled into the Light territory, he has loosened up and learned that leading is less about doing everything himself, and more about knowing how to direct others and pull everything together. Those close to this dragon know that he is as kind as he is serious. He just wants peace, and he loves his clan, with all his heart. He may seem tough on the outside but his love for all dragonkind puts him in a safe position to lead this clan. Although HeartRune never really knew how any clan works, he uses his head and common sense to put into place fair and just laws. HeartRune's personal belongings include his runestone namesake, an old Gladekeeper doll, some mysterious scroll case with which he will never discuss, and oddly enough an unused renaming scroll, as if he knows his name was a mistake but cannot bring himself to change it.
