Biography

T R Y P H O N

The wind was blowing strong that day, and a little hatchling battered against wind, snow and ice. Stolen from his nest, and then later on misplaced by the thieves, this little came out of his egg shivering and disappointed. He had hoped to see smiling faces peering at him when he left the shell, but found only empty space and falling snow. Confused, sad, and alone, young Tryphon trudged through the snow carefully, leaving his prints behind him. He remembered calling out loudly, and not receiving an answer.

You could say that his heart broke. But when it came together again, it was hard, impenetrable and kept locked away by the wall he had built up. Tryphon steeled his emotions, until he became as cold as snow and as unmoving as a glacier.

Soon enough, he got bored of the endless white expanse. So Tryphon spread his dark wings and flew. He followed the rays of the sun, gliding north to where he reached the edge of the Southern Icefield, where the Frigid Floes sat, until they too, disappeared and were replaced by dark blue waters. Tryphon kept flying until sharp, curved mountains of gleaming pink and purple were grazing at his wings.

He avoided the jagged curves, and moved to the side until he landed on flat land. Just beyond the shore, were thin trees stretching upwards. Tryphon walked on, marching through the forest. The sun sank, and his breath hitched in his throat as the trees slowly lit up, like a universe on land. His mind reeled from the beauty of his surroundings, and Tryphon felt lightheaded and dizzy.

He wished he could imprint the scenery into his mind forever, but he had to keep going. However, his wings and legs felt like lead, and he couldn't go another step. A yawn pushed through him, so Tryphon rested until the morning. With the sun harshly glaring at him, Tryphon decided it was time to move on. He travelled further inland, crossing over to Plague's domain. Tryphon didn't particularly like the hot, arid and rotting dessert that was the Scarred Wasteland. So he breezed through that territory swiftly, until he was in the Water flight's realm. Tryphon enjoyed it at first, as the coolness of the waters gave him relief from the blistering heat in the Scarred Wasteland. But after a while, he felt tired and bored of the endless blue surrounding him. So he stretched his wings and flew again.

Tryphon's wings brought him to the Windswept Plateau, the home of the Windsinger and his brood. Tryphon quite liked the place, with its gentle breezes and soft grass. Plus, he could see his home from there, albeit it was quite small and resembled only a blotch of white on the horizon. But despite that, it brought him a sense of comfort.

And yet, something was still missing in his life. Tryphon didn't figure it out until he ran into into the enigmatic Tryphosa. The obsidian Imperial glimmered under the sun, with all the gold she wore on her body. She talked in riddles, and for the first time in his life, Tryphon found something he wanted to follow. So he stuck to her side.

Tryphosa earned a companion that day, but Tryhon earned something more. Something to live for.
