Flurry

Everyone called Gale the little brother, just because he was a little smaller than Flurry. They were hatched at the same time and Flurry looked up to his nocturne brother. Gale just had all the best ideas. Even his worst ideas were the best. Like his suggestion that they steal Salvia's pearl. It had been great fun, at least until the screaming started. As soon as Salvia woke up and realized the pearl was gone he had set off the loudest screeching and crying the brothers had ever heard! And he didn't let up until Flurry brought the pearl back. It suited Gale at times like this to shrink behind him and act like the little brother but Flurry didn't mind. Gale had all the best ideas, like telling their mom that they found the pearl just outside the pearlcatcher's sleeping area and that Salvia must have kicked it out in his sleep. Flurry knew that their mother, Softwind, wasn't fooled by the way she looked at him and Gale, but since Salvia and his family seemed satisfied she didn't push the issue. They did have to listen to a long lecture about the importance of a pearl to its dragon. She said that when they were born, part of them was outside of them in that pearl. That it made them especially vulnerable and we should be grateful that all of that is inside of us. Big sis, Zephyr, rolled around on the ground and said, I'm glad I'm a mirror, mirrors are the best. She poked Gale and said noccies aren't bad either, and winked. Then she grabbed Flurry and started tickling him while Gale climbed on top of the pile and tickled Zephyr and Flurry until they were all laughing too hard to do anything else.
