Zaven, had always had a kinship to the shadows they kept him safe at his most vulnerable time. Something had happened when he was a hatchling, his memories were clouded and painful, but he clearly remembered a pearl that had been torn from him and only his coloring was able to hide him in the deepest shadows. The shadows had kept him alive when everything had been against him, a whisper here or there would lead him to food or an abandoned shelter he could use for a time. They had lead him across domains until he arrived at a small fire lair were he found even more than he imagined possible. He was quickly able to undergo a ritual that even though it twisted him inside out it stopped the constant pain he had experienced since losing his pearl. His new smaller size also allowed him to hide in even smaller shadows than before and when he was asked to participate in the blending ritual with a shadow spirit he found a very special one... his ancestor Death the first of his line with the same coloration.
