Biography
|
Fotia was born long before she remembers. She grew up under the watchful eye of the Lightweaver, within one of her most prominent and exclusive all-Mirror clans. The Lightweaver never thought that she would trust murder dogs as much as she trusted these Mirrors. Her Imperials may have been a mistake, but the Plaguebringer got something right here. As Fotia grew up, her life in the clan changed and morphed. She ended up one of the most trusted and well-respected Mirrors. Fotia was hard headed and opinionated. And loud. Fotia made sure that she was heard. Unfortunately, this one strength of hers led to her ultimate downfall. She ticked off the wrong dragon. There was a powerful sorceress who wanted control over a certain patch of land within the Sunbeam Ruins, particularly beside the Beacon. Fotia refused to allow it. This was her clan's home. Her family had lived there for generations and she fought hard to keep her family's history in place, right beside the Lightweaver's throne. The sorceress was not happy with this decision. She was a spiteful Skydancer and cursed Fotia and her immediate family. |
It started with Fotia's siblings. Freak accidents began happening. One sibling was lost in a river, another swept away in a mudslide, and another had a wing cramp where he plummeted to his death. After her siblings had almost been exhausted, it was her parents. Luckily, they had caught on and did their best to protect themselves and their last two children. The sorceress wanted Fotia to suffer and all of her family to perish along the way.
Fotia's parents wondered if she disappeared, so would the curse. But they couldn't risk Fotia coming home. They figured a memory wipe would keep Fotia away from the sorceress and convince the Skydancer that she was indeed gone. There was yet another unfortunate event in store: the magician they went to see was much less experienced than he advertised. Fotia's memory was wiped alright, but she was accidentally sent back to her younger years. Permanently.
Her parents freaked out. They banished the magician from their lands. They rushed to the elders and ended up disappointed and distraught. The elders could only offer one ounce of hope or help: they could summon her siblings to protect her. Fotia's parents agreed and had the elders ask Fotia's siblings to come and protect their sister. They all obliged and began to encircle her. With the secondary problem as good as solved as they would get, Fotia's parents went back to figuring out how to get her away from the sorceress.
Luck was on their side as a clan was passing through. They didn't seem like the world's friendliest bunch, but they respected and trusted each other. Fotia's parents needed to get her out as soon as possible, before anymore harm befell their family. They asked the clans' healer, Voitheia, if they would be willing to look after such a cursed child. Voitheia related to the child, as she had been touched by the Shade. She knew she wasn't an ideal candidate for parenthood but decided to go ahead and allow Fotia to come along. Fotia's parents thanked her millions upon millions of times. They gave their last kiss to their last daughter and sent her away. The sorceress learned of her supposed death and allowed Foria's parents and her last brother to live on.
Fotia remembered none of this. She did not recognize her parents. She did not know what was going on. She only knew she had a new friend with a large, shiny ball to play with and a bunch of little buzzing friends. For Fotia, her life was good. For her parents, life was hell.
