Catelyn is a shy, anxious dragoness who spends most of her time in her quarters. She has a phobia of many things, including death, evil spirits, and the beasts outside the Sanctuary. Catelyn is also light sensitive, and has weak scales which get dry and cracked in too much sunlight. As a result, she hides out in her shady, moist rooms most days, occasionally coming out at night if she is accompanied by Pup, her mate.
Her quarters are at the edge of the Sanctuary, and are dimly lit by gently glowing candles lined up along the ridges of the walls. A small waterfall trickles down into a thin stream at the back of the main bedroom, and a light mist of water vapour hangs in the air. Catelyn's room is filled with sweet aromas, which she finds calming and satisfying, and which allow her to relax. Catelyn makes perfumes, scented oils, and scented candles to take her mind off her fears. Breathing in the scents soothes her, and she believes the smell of them wards away evil. Her mate, Pup, usually helps her make them, and distributes them to the rest of the clan after. He cares for Catelyn greatly, and has helped her overcome a few of her many fears.
Catelyn doesn't come into contact with many other dragons, and the only dragons she has ever known are the dragons in her clan. A thin black veil hanging across the entrance to her rooms prevents her weak eyes from seeing much of what's going on outside, and as she rarely leaves the Sanctuary, she doesn't really know what goes on in the rest of the clan unless Pup tells her. Even then, if something bad happens, she won't be told, in case it agitates her fears.
In recent years, Catelyn has become slightly more active in the clan, though she still retains her habit of drifting around the Sanctuary, and is known as the 'Lady of the Sanctuary'. Most of the coatls view her as the ruler of the Sanctuary, and Catelyn and her family are well known and respected among coatls across Sornieth.
Catelyn has a habit of fidgeting and shivering when not around her mate. Pup is her beacon in the wild sea of life, and snakes, does she need him. He brightens her day when nothing else can, calms her when she is about to have a panic attack, and stands by her when no one else will. She loves him dearly, and would do anything for him if she could just get over her shyness. This coatl absolutely adores familiars. Unlike dragons, they do not care about her social-awkwardness, and she values them dearly for that. She can be often found surrounded by familiars, reading a scroll by a small scented candle. Catelyn is an excellent artist, even though she may not show it. She is very self-critical towards her work, and often discards pieces she had worked on for hours simply because she thinks she messed up on one single detail. While Catelyn has a very hard time talking and being around adult dragons, she enjoys greatly the time she spends with dragonets. The young dragons visit her cave often, and though Catelyn is mostly silent during their visits, she loves to listen to what the dragonets have to say. Catelyn is also a very kind and selfless dragon. She gives away most of her stuff to those in need, much to Pup's dismay. The only problem is, many dragons use her kindness to their own twisted ways. They will pretend to be poor and in need, knowing that she will, because of her big heart, give them whatever she can.Art
