Puppetmaster of Marionettes

"Our strings are pulled by unknown forces."


A ridgeback sits in the middle of the stage, marionettes hanging from strings draped around her arms and across her wings. She slowly rises, her wingtips and claws making subtle movements, causing the marionettes to move their limbs. Zyla skillfully manipulates the strings to show off a miniature jointed bogsneak slinking past her feet, then raising its head to look at the crowd while flapping its cloth wings. She lifts the nocturne puppet hanging from her other arm, and the two puppets begin an intricately choreographed dance across the stage.

Zyla's marionettes move with such lifelike grace that you wonder if they are really just puppets. As the ridgeback takes a bow, you follow the crowd toward a larger stage nearby.
