~~~~~
"Big things often have humble beginnings."
He wasn't born to be a prince, yet here he stands.
~~~~~
His homeland is none other than the Southern Iceland, as his eyes so reflect; specifically a humble lair in the midst of it all. In fact he had always known, even as a mere hatchling, that it wasn't a place he could thrive.
He wasn't the cold and brooding dragon most associate with the barren nature of ice and snow. From the moment of his hatching, he was already exploring the world around him; although he was the last to hatch, he was the first to stand, the first to walk, and the first to open his eyes.
It was truly in that moment, that first glimpse of the world, that sealed his fate; even if he hadn’t quite realized it yet. For when he looked around, he had wondered in the most basic sense what was out there. Not just crying for his parents, siblings, or food, but true curiosity for all he noticed: the cave walls, the shiny ice, the white snow... Nothing escapsed his gaze, least of all the different dragons that stared down at him, huddled around his nest.
As he grew, he continued to search for answers; some even to questions he hadn't yet asked.
So, it was unsurprising that he set off to explore as soon as he was old enough. What was surprising was just how difficult it was to leave. Leaving meant turning away from all he had ever known. It meant turning away from his family, none of whom ever could understand his insatiable urge to test boundaries and move beyond them. In the end his curiosity got the best of him; he just had to know what else was out there. He's never regretted it sense.
In fact it was because of this decision that he was able to meet the one who would become the love of his life. He had never bought into the idea that you could find “your other half,” mostly because he thought he was complete on his own. While that is true, the phrase isnt necessarily meant to be taken literally. He had been complete on his own, that much is true; however, he wasn’t the best he could be. Only meeting Valkyrie revealed a bright part of him he hadn’t even known he had.
Honestly, Valkyrie is someone he can't even begin to describen from the moment he met her he knew she'd be someone important to him. She was, and still is, among the most intelligent and passionate dragons he has ever met; not to mention as curious as he was, if not more.
In th end, it was her who convinced Laura and Dusk, the two leaders of her clan, to allow him to join them. It was also her whom he found his home with. Their romance wasn't something instantaneous. It was something far more beautiful than love at first sight. It was a love forged with tender care and affection, a flame stoked by adoration and companionship. It's the kind of thing you’re lucky to find even once in your life; something truly remarkable. It was something he wouldn’t give up, not even for the world.
