Ennion
Thrill seeker - Self critical - Committed

Some dragons would consider one year to be of no consequence in the ongoing search for one's own talents, but for Ennion it had already felt like ten.

He was young, yes, of course. He knew this, undoubtedly.
It was just that, every so often he felt like this one year of life had already been ten.

Again he had sought out the familiar comforts of the wild and unrestrained power of a storm.
Again he had left the sanctity of his clan, his home, to seek out and follow the most promising of weather.
Before he'd even touched the ground, he could tell- this was the one.
The air had already taken on a plummet in temperature, his bracelets a pleasant cooling reminder of the chill seeping into the atmosphere.
What had been a pleasant breeze was swiftly turning into a much larger portent.
His wings trembled ever so slightly in anticipation, claws shifted into the dirt, every muscle tensed, every bone connected to the ascension of what would be a marvelous crescendo of awe inspiring joy.
Or so it seemed.

The problem, he thought, was longing. That's what it came down to, really.
Chasing storms was one thing, they always paid off, and usually sooner rather than later, in a most exciting way.
Chasing after a purpose? That was elusive, nebulous and frustrating.
Oh, Spica had been nothing but kind and understanding- he would be forever grateful for her warmth and understanding.
She had reassured him many times over, with the lilting tone that always meant she was amused and endeared- how calm and warm her compassion left him!
How wonderful to know she would be there when he returned from these ventures, and return to her he always would.
Take your time, you're still young, even if you live to be a thousand and do not find your purpose I shall always believe you will.
These wonderful words and all of the others had become a mantra to him.
He'd been going over them again in his mind just as the storm reached a crescendo. Lightning split the sky twice over, thrice, he couldn't be certain.
This dizzying mixture of emotions had him completely enraptured in a thrall unlike any as yet.

All thoughts were swept up and away into the wind, later he would recall his last conscious effort had been to direct those thoughts at the heart of the storm.
A curious thing happened, then. The lightning had returned silently, immediately.
The distance he'd judged safe had no bearing now. It seemed the earth itself had begun to shake, but no- he had been struck.
Light, blinding, bright and cold, dizzying and warm. There was no ground, there was no sky, there was nothing but the storm then not even that..

It may have been a matter of minutes or an hour by the time he recovered himself sufficiently to collect his thoughts and test first wings, then tail, legs, all the precious possibilities for injury and found.. none?

Such a thing was not possible. Surely something had to have been harmed, perhaps only minorly, thanks be to his birthright, but still.
A direct hit of that magnitude and power he'd never heard of before, and certainly never heard of anyone coming away completely unscathed.
With suspicion and a slight hesitancy he unfurled his wings, expecting at any moment a sudden flare of numbness or agony to catch up to events.

He couldn't say for sure, but later on a telling of events, it was to be this next feeling that would have him momentarily lapse into a soft smile and quiet contemplation.
He longed to go home.
Just that, and nothing more.
The ever present hollow that had been with him since birth now inexplicably vanished, like fog under the morning sun.
Would he still search for a purpose, something in life that felt just right, a calling to put his talents to use in? Yes.
Would he find it?
Yes.
The answer was clear and undisturbed, filled with an assurance that had never before been experienced.
No longer did doubt crawl in his mind, no longer did fear overtake his limbs.
All was quiet, clear, and beautiful.
He breathed a sigh of relief and, with one last look at the fading storm, took to the sky to return home.
