Biography

SOLA - Tangled Woods Ranger

The Tangled Woods are an ever-shifting place. Where there were trails one day, there may be nothing at all the next, and if the sun rises in the east one morning, it should not necessarily be expected there the following day. A strange magic upsets the Shadowbinder's realm, blanketing the forests with a strange air that changes without notice, whenever it pleases.

But it is possible to navigate the Tangled Wood if only you have the instinct for it, which Sola does. He doesn't understand it; though his mothers were born there, he was hatched in the heart of the Sunbeam Ruins, in the land of the Shadowbinder's antithesis. By all means, he should not know the ways through the dark as well as he does. Still, the paths call to him, singing haunting melodies under the heavy shadows of the trees. They try to charm him, and he uses all of his charms in return to twist them into real trails he can follow through the changing lands.

Sometimes, travelers will pay him to guide them through the Tangled Wood, but he is still loath to do so. He may understand the ways of the wood, but traveling solo is a much different endeavor than escorting others along. Only in emergencies does he allow company on his journeys, wherein speed is held far above all else. The faster he leaves the wood, the better.

But for some reason, he keeps coming back.
