Biography
Effigy | Living dead
| Outcast | The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. - Marcus Tullius Cierco When they first came upon Effigy, they thought she was dead. The tears in her skin and muscle had been proof enough that the creature had been torn apart by carrion feeders. There was a thin, papery quality to her pale skin. Before dying, she had lived underground a long, long time. Perhaps she had crawled out only to die when the sun hit her. But then she moved. A glazed eye rolling in a deep socket; a bony chest heaving as air tried to fill tattered longs. There was screaming, scrambling to get away from her as she dragged herself to her feet. “Wait,” she rasped, swollen tongue flapping against peeled lips. “I…I need…help…” The “dead” thing still lives; a symbol to those who cross Moro. She’s a mere carcass of her former self—a beautiful dragoness from a happy home. An innocent Pearlcatcher who made a single bad decision. It only takes one step down the shadowed road. Effigy is not a malevolent creature. She’s mindless, lonely, and scared. She cries when people come near, hoping that someone—anyone—can help her. She tries to hide away in the day and wander the night, but she often misjudges how soon the dawn will come and collapses under the tepid heat of the burning sun, barely able to move until the cool night returns. "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:" - Genesis 3:4 |
Description
With pallid, rotting skin and milky eyes, it’s no wonder many dragons who see Effigy for the first time think that she’s nothing more than a corpse. It’s only when she starts to move and moan that they realize their mistake, and often flee as fast as possible. Her hallowed looks aren’t her fault, though—she was cursed into an existence between life and death.
Job Description
Effigy has no purpose. Moro had plans for her at one point but she was disposed of when she tried to return to her previous clan rather than stay with the Marrowteeth.
Den
The Pearlcatcher tries to find places to hide away in during the day so that the scorching sun doesn’t hurt her thin skin.

Compliments
@Cascarones [#320966]: "To read about Effigy breaks my heart, it cries for her permanent unliving but undead state. She reminds me a bit of the bare beast subspecies, with exposed skin and flesh. I have a few in my lair, and I can only imagine how they would react when they see her, or how my clan would react. They would be so frightened, when all this poor dear wants is help. I feel the rose thorns she wears shows how dead enough she is, plants taking root, but it must hurt to have vines in muscles that still move. Does it inhibit her locomotion? I only have 2 dragons who would not be entirely afraid of Effigy, but that's because one is Winny with her own subspecies lore, and her housemate Minnie who helps her out. Minnie, Winny, and Effigy sort of sound like the title to a sitcom. I went from being sad to being happy."
