Panther

Panther the Demon, they call her. Unless it's her family. Then it's Panther the Plover, and it is said with love and makes her laugh.

A young member of the Red-Snout Clan, Panther's red manifested itself in markings that reveal her skeleton, and in magic somewhere between Light and Fire. She joined the hunting tradition of her foremothers, but finds greater thrill hunting bounty than prey. Her favoured trick is something she calls the Plover Ploy, after a bird which fakes an injured wing, only to fly away when stalked, thus protecting its nest: clad in delicate jewels and a delicate disposition, she wanders limping down roads stricken by thieves and marauders, looking for all the world like a particularly easy target.

Unlike the plover bird, she doesn't fly away as the target of her ruse draws near.

That said, she's gregarious and friendly to most dragons and beastkin, taking after her mother Red in personality with a little of Tom's sense of mischief. She's fond of wordplay and her surly aunt is a frequent straight-dragon against it. Perhaps ironically, she has a weakness for bird eggs.
