You know, marketplace was always crowded. Not as much as the Auction House though, but it was still enough dragons to unsettle Warren.
He wandered through the crowds, looking, looking for the dragon whose dream he had stumbled into last night. It had been quite a strange dream, with a Skydancer who had been stuck in a Fae’s nest, while the Fae grumbled in monotone at the poor Skydancer. The pair had had strange names as well; Vykos and Altair, but Warren had no idea which was which. He tripped over a dragon’s tail and began to apologize when they turned around. “Oh, there’s no need to apologize! You look a bit overheated, can I get you some ice?” The Skydancer pulled a rather small ice cube from thin air and gave it to Warren. “You think that’s going to help? You’re dense Altair.” A Fae stuck his neck out from where he appeared to be riding on the Skydancer’s shoulders and Warren jumped at the sight of the long neck. “Hey... he looks familiar.” Altair mused, staring the Tundra up and down. “Oh yes! You were in my dream last night! I’m supposed to help you! Or at least, that’s what you told me while I was in my dreamscape.” “You’re going to trust him? Dreamwalkers are literally oxymorons. They are like two sides of the same coin, the paradox of putting buttered toast on a cat.” Vykos protested. Altair muttered something Warren couldn’t hear and then the Fae sighed. “Okay! You can come with us! We were just about to leave, we had to stock up on crickets, the last bowl spilled and they hopped away.” Altair lanched upwards and Warren followed, surprised that the pair had decided to trust him as quickly as he trusted them. ...back at the hut... It’d been almost five hours and Altair and Vykos we’re still bickering. It was getting on his nerves. Warren watched for another moment and then stood, rattling the table. “I came here because I wanted a sleeping draught, not because I wanted to watch you two fight!” Vykos sidled a look at him. “Told you he didn’t like complications and long time stuff.” “Oh shut it Vykos, I don’t know what to give him!” “Why don’t you just mix elderberry wine with jasmine and peace lily?” “Hmmmmmmm. I didn’t think of that.” Altair pulled a pestle towards him and Vykos poured in a dark purple liquid and started adding flower petals while Warren watched. “This, it’ll help me not dreamwalk as much?” “You can’t dreamwalk when you’re completely incapacitated kid.” Vykos ladled some of the potion into a small vial and capped it, sealing the cork with hot wax. “Enjoy.” “Side effects may include: hmmm, actually, I have no idea.” Altair gave a disjointed smile and then sniffed the leftover potion. The Skydancer’s antennae shot straight up and then he collapsed. “And, that’s your cue to go. See you around Warren.” Vykos waved his arm in the direction of the door and Warren couldn’t get out fast enough. Dear Arcanist, please let this not kill me Warren prayed silently. |
