Citrine was always an embodiment of a phrase: "not all who wander are lost." Oh, she has been lost before - when roads are twisting, it is easy to miss the way back home; even easier, when one's mind has become as forgetful as Citrine's is. But her heart never strays, and each new turn is an adventure. When she cannot find her way to her last "home," there will always be a new one to find, somewhere down the road. And, wherever "home" may be, she is loved; clanmates know that her calm can be trusted with their burdens, and that she will not judge nor jump to anger. Yet despite that, they know that it is only a matter of time - days, perhaps; or weeks, or months; but eventually her mind will catch the wind, and she will be away to drift again, wherever her curiosity may lead. And they know that, when this happens, she may never return; her heart may not even remember the way.

A floater, a drifter, a dreamer, Citrine follows wherever the spring breeze may blow - careless, perhaps; certainly carefree. Her pace is her own, and none can rush her; neither can anyone hold her back, if she has a mind to go. There is little that can shake her in her steady rhythm, and her gentle smile never falls from her eyes and lips. But time has not been kind; it never is. Though her smile has not disappeared, Citrine's eyes are buried beneath wrinkles; and her feet, so callused, have grown worn by wandering. Though always distracted, her mind is increasingly absent, and details escape her grasp, slippery as leaves in the wind. Before, her many families tolerated her wanderings; now, she worries them, and they wonder when it will be that her body is unable to continue. Her current family at Almaren, especially, stresses for her fate; if she goes, when she goes, will she find her way back? Will she be able to care for herself in an increasingly dangerous world?

With the heart - and occasional mind - of a child, Citrine has found a place at Almaren in caring for the hatchlings. Though rare in the clan, they are her pride and joy, and she dedicates her hours to raising them - playing with them, teaching them, or with skilled hands building tiny toys: flying ships, kites, pinwheels, and mementos of her youth.
