Biography
Beetie, once the mate of Black Scroll's male progenitor, now leads in his place alongside Aries. The two have taken each other on as mates, both wishing for the return of their loves, but knowing the truth is much more complex.
Beetie watches as Umeme speaks to her remaining clan members.
"Are we sure?" she asks, "Are we absolutely sure that they're not going to...well."
Aries shakes his head. "We don't. But we have resources that they lack, and they're promising a home for us all."
A shiver shoots up Beetie's spines as she flutters in front of the Guardian. "Do they actually have enough room for all of us?"
Aries watches Izer and Igna nod calmly. Their newest additions have moved around with them loyally, never wavering in their dedication to the now mobile clan.
"Umeme swears that they'll make the room. There are dragons there that are eager to serve or leave, apparently. His own mate left with their children a few moons ago."
Beetie sucks in a breath. "He's so thin,"
"It'll be an alliance of sorts, Beetie." Aries says, "We help build them back up, and they give us a permanent home."
The faerie stays quiet, her tail flickering nervously.
"Umeme says he won't hold it against us if we don't accept. He knows it's a strange offer,"
"It is," Beetie's voice trails off. "What if they come back after we've accepted? What if they won't let us leave?"
A look shadows over Aries's eyes, and Beetie feels her heart falter once again.
"We both know," Aries says, reaching up to hold the Faerie dragon, "the Lightbringer won't let them go. Harria and Hadrion told us both that for them to go meant the survival of the rest of us."
A tear slips out of Beetie's eye. "It's not fair, is it?"
The guardian shakes his head. "No, it's not."
The two fall into silence as the rest of the clan listens to Umeme.
"We'll have to work." She whispers. "Their patron isn't the kindest."
A smile cracks Aries's face.
