Gupta can be distant and difficult to talk to. To her eyes, the world is veiled by by frost-like flakes that catch light and their constant dancing and twinkling leads her to distraction. She does not mind the isolating affect the haze has on her; it keeps her from echoing, an experience she finds disconcerting. With the shimmering shield rendering other dragons into meaningless blurs, she can focus on her priorities. She strings together poppets out of silk and feathers and ties them to dead vegetation at the clan's borders. She minds Jukka the least of her clanmates- she finds it easier to speak to dragons out of sight, and he is the most willing to speak unseen. She can pretend he is part of the glitter.

"It's nothing to do with him. That Ice dragon. I wasn't born this way, but it happened before I met him. My kind were never meant to live in light. I describe it like snow so -- has it become more like snow since I met him . . . ?"
