Flynn is Adelaide's right hand man, but not her mate. He governs over the security of the Clan, and makes sure that everyone is safe. He can be sort of anal about safety and following rules, but he means well.

Flynn was exiled from his original clan due to the shimmer of his feathers. They reflected the light when he was a hatchling, and nearly caused the death of his entire brood to predators when his mother left the nest for a short time. This caused him to become paranoid about his feathers, and the safety of those around him.

While he did mate shortly with Kiuminoawa, it was a one time thing. It took a lot of convincing on her part, due to the ingrained fear that he could spread the shimmer of his feathers to his offspring. However, that was not the case. Kiuminoawa had done this to help him get over his fear, as it was her job to oversee the health of the clan. That was only the first step to accepting who he was for who he was; part of a family instead of outcasted due to his looks.
