|| BackgroundHelima was hatched and raised in a little Light clan, built into the cliffs off the cliffs off the Hewn City. Even as a hatchling, she was gentle and kind; preferring to lie amongst plants and play gently with her fellow hatchlings rather than wrestling and running around. As she got older, it came as no surprise to anyone that Helima fell quite naturally into the role of nest-tender, and her skills as such soon gained her some notoriety in her area. If you were struggling with a hatchling or egg, Helima Wood was the one to call.
However, Helima was not the only tender in her clan, and it quickly became obvious that her skills were, while helpful, largely redundant at home. To that end, Helima began to look for jobs elsewhere, from clans who would need her help. One that caught her eye was Rara Avis, then a young clan coming into its prime, who needed a nest-tender as a few pairs in the clan were preparing to lay. She packed her bags and— after gaining a travel companion in the young Coatl Niril— set off to the Starfall Isles.
Helima arrived in a Rara Avis that was still very new; she almost immediately set about tending to the cavern planned out for nesting. Conferring with the clan's architect, Galasi, closely, Helima set up a nursery any clan could be proud of, and during the process she and Galasi fell in love. They set up their own den together, and Helima pursued her duty with a loving claw all the while.
When Rara Avis's scavengers found a sickly Arcane egg abandoned in the fields surrounding the clan, it was Helima who hatched and raised the dragon inside. When a scavenger dropped off a strange kind of egg she had never seen before, it was Helima who nursed the Banescale inside back to health and raised him as her own. And when Pembe, the eternal child, showed no signs of growing up, it was Helima who took the hatchling under her wing and went far afield to find a potential cure.
|| CurrentThough it may not seem like it, Helima is one of the most important members of Rara Avis, and has been since she set claw on its soil. She loves her job, and does it both cheerfully and well, cleaning the nests and making sure that they are ready for whichever pair might want to lay eggs in the clan.
Still, one can easily get the sense that Helima takes off a bit more than she can chew. She never had hatchlings of her own, but her three children are more than enough for her— one cursed, another ancient in nature, and the eldest haunted in a way no one can describe. It's not as if she didn't care for all with the utmost love and attention, but still, a mother's work is never done— and the children Helima raises have a tendency to struggle in ways she cannot fix.

|| Notes◈ Helima met Deimas while searching for a cure to Pembe's eternal youth. They met up, but Deimas held no answers for Helima's daughter. Still, they hit it off well enough that they agreed to become long-distance mates, a plan agreed upon by Galasi.
◈ Instead of keeping pictures in the locket she always wears, Helima places scents inside. She folds in flowers or other sweet-smelling things that remind her of good memories in it.
◈ In her spare time, Helima sews both clothes and soft toys for hatchlings.
