Biography

Xanaphia Losmîr was always destined to be a fighter. Her magical gift is to enchant objects and sense where magic is, and she used it well and as often as she could. Her sister Silaqui inherited their father's curiosity and kind spirit, and looked like a blend of both parents. But Xan's appearance, and personality, purely came from Thia. She was always driven to be better, stronger, than everyone around her, which was why she and Varis, who's content and complacent, were a good match. She and Silaqui were extremely close as hatchlings, but as they got older, Xan got frustrated as Silaqui seemed to excel at everything she did. When Silaqui confessed that she was in love with Bryn the Skydancer, Xanaphia felt shocked and hurt. Bryn hated her, and she hated him! How could her sister do this to her? Did her input not matter? It never helped that Silaqui and Bryn seemed far more in love than herself and Varis ever could be. She let jealousy overtake her or a while. She blames herself for the rivalry that broke them apart, and regrets that the old wounds between them never went away entirely. When Silaqui died in one of the later sweeps of the plague, Xan felt a grief beyond words. Varis tried to comfort her, but she knew she’d never truly get over it. At least she and Bryn reconciled after Silaqui died, the dragon each of them loved more than anyone in Sornieth. When Bryn started experimenting with magic, she became his assistant, even has he grew more reckless. Her Enchanter magic had never been particularly strong, but she tried to improve it. One day, there was an accident, and Xanaphia was caught in the explosion. When she came to, large crystalline spikes made of pure Arcane magic stabbed out of her head and down her neck and shoulders. Bryn offered to try to reverse it, but she chose to keep them. They didn't hurt, and she rather likes them now. She keeps them in a silent visual tribute to Silaqui.
