"The most effective tool is fear."
To Thundercracker, the skies are his playground. His arena. His domain. He looks down and laughs in the face of others who lack the ability of prolonged flight. And superiority in his "home" is the one thing he's most sure of. Oddly enough, he's not entirely committed to Athena's cause- this includes his squadron of elite fliers, often feeling some sort of ironic sympathy for those he's fighting against. Usually fear of retribution from Athena, and influence of his wingmates help bury any doubts he may have.
Still though, he needs constant reassurance from Starscream and Athena (often in the form of threats) that he's right where he's needed.
