and everything means nothing
we feel because of who we are
not because of who we aren't
the sun shines
and yet it does not
because the only lights in the world
are the ancient souls in our chests.

to hide from the denizens that creep in from the shadows and the light, accordingly, all eldritch horrors from our deepest nightmares
even the ones our brains cannot remember
even the ones we cannot see in the stars?

or is it really so?
is there anything brave
about the way we cower
from our ancient selves
hiding from their -- our -- shining golden eyes and their smiles full of teeth and timelessness
only the sands bring?

behind every bough
there's a piece of your soul
it might be a corner piece
or a piece from the middle
but either way, it is there
will you go and look for it?
there, hidden
like the skeletons in your closet
you keep the wrong things in
and throw out the right ones.

the stars drip
from the obsidian sky
into your eyes
and they burn, oh
they burn
but you don't die
because as every human is at their core
you are an ancient
a being made of sun
and rain
and earth
and wind
the light settles into your teeth and you smile brightly
because once again
you feel whole.

why, oh child of the heavens, are you afraid of
its
impossible
insurmountable
terrible
vast
inexplicable
grandeur?
the stars themselves
breathed life into you
and the arms of the universe
formed you.

what you see
is really
just a reflection of
what you do not.

you broke free

I love Cecil as well. The use of the jester cap and sylvan headdress is so nice. It really emphasizes those slitted eyes and makes him look vaguely threatening which is a nice look for someone from Nightvale.

What a cunning visage. The apparel really makes the dragon, that added white just works wonders with all the weird colours going on that dragon, I'm intrigued and I can't look away. The maroon is subtle, the eyes are merely a hint of green and the beautiful butterfly adds that last necessary touch of colour. Absolutely wonderful.

This guy, Cecil looks a little bit intimidating in a good way. His eerie gaze locks the viewer. From all that dark and purple colours, his green eyes strikes first. Any dark range colour to go with some violet range colour looks neat. Amazing!
