"The song of the earth is written in blood. Listen, and I will help you hear it."

“Crestfallen spires, all wreathed in glow
Anguish languishing in between Alas, the screams of God Above Of ants below, thus left unseen The storm won’t break, the stars long dead The scent of blood and copper lay O’er what once was deemed of worth And where I once had pieces play Blight on wings, rotten and dark Whispers through the storm’s black reach Calling home a wayward one Who only has regrets to teach Past home and storm and Gods above In furthest land where Gods don’t see Wind roaring through the sands and stone I wonder what is left of me”

"I don’t think I’ll ever understand why she left in the first place, but I don’t think it’s a story she wants to tell. If it was, we’d have it written down in the Lorekeeper library by now. The only thing I can say is that, after she left, she didn’t find what she wanted. It’s not all freedom and happy endings away from home.
“She’s back now, though, and that’s what matters. Maybe not with Clan Elsewhere like her parents would have liked, but here in Irthskaar with The Abandoned proper. I know some of her family feel betrayed by the fact she decided to start her own clan instead of reintegrating, but I wonder if it has to do with the unwritten reason she originally bailed.” |

HISTORY
Despite the fact that Fracture is the Master Archivist of The Lorekeepers, she was originally the heir to the leadership of Clan Elsewhere. Her inheritance was forfeit after she abruptly packed her things and left home in her early adulthood, spurring a loud and violent argument with her mother, Snap. This created a rift between the two, with Snap feeling betrayed by what she felt was her daughter abandoning her, and Fracture being hurt by the fact that her mother didn’t trust her. She resettled in the Shifting Expanse where, after a failed mateship and several children, she realized she’d left for a life of adventure just to find the same tedium she was hoping to avoid in the first place.
Her return home saw her camping with several clans along the route, kind souls willing to take in a drifter who was trying to make her way back home with little more than the mantle around her neck. This is where she learned to love storytelling and history, absorbing as many tales and facts about the dragons who gave her a place to rest her head. Soon, she was penning her own stories, her own poems, and trading them to clans in exchange for board. It's surprising just how many were willing to feed her after an evening of riveting campfire tales. She proved a natural and soon, many like-minded literature lovers latched onto her like leeches, and it wasn't long before The Lorekeepers sprang up around her. To say Snap was furious that her daughter refused to reintegrate with Clan Elsewhere upon her return would be a grand understatement; the only reason Fracture is allowed in The Fifteen, let alone Irthskaar, is because her father had the final say. Fracture not only represents The Lorekeepers in The Council of Fifteen, she also acts as a record keeper. While Geist is the official stenographer, Fracture has a memory like a steel trap and can remember anecdotes and disputes word-for-word. She’s a fact checker, a statistician, and very often can make or break negotiations. She’s the savior and bane of her peers, all in one fell swoop, and there is always a sense of tension at the Altar when Fracture has the last say on things. She really wishes there wasn't, though. She likes to consider herself a levelheaded sort. |
IMALIA
Irthskaar doesn’t have many centaurs, but Fracture has traveled extensively and made more than a couple of friends. Imalia, a representative of the Glamourhoof Herd in the Sunbeam Ruins, is one of them. They originally met during Fracture's long trek back home from the Shifting Expanse, when the Glamourhoofs opted to give her food and shelter in the absence of nearby dragons. Imalia was very taken with Fracture's knack for storytelling, and hitched a ride to Irthskaar with her in hopes of learning the craft.
While she and Fracture get along splendidly due to their mutual love of literature, many have noticed she is a bit listless. Far from home and quite alone, in a land where she hardly ever sees any of her own ilk, she seems to be suffering from extreme homesickness. Fracture can sympathize, and feels intense guilt, even if it's Imalia that refuses to leave. |
