Biography

Salamander turned his head to the dark coals sitting in the hearth and reignited them with a puff of flame. His stubby claws pulled undid the clasp on his leather satchel and pulled out a piece of scrap iron. He held it over the fire, allowing the metal to heat up. When the dirt had burned away and an orange glow began pulsing deep inside metal, he pulled it back and placed it on an anvil. Once more, Salamander reached into his bag, this time producing a small hammer. He pounded the metal flat, a resounding clang echoing in the cave every time the hammer struck the metal. When the metal was shaped to his satisfaction, Salamander returned the hammer to his satchel and admired his handiwork. What was once scrap metal had been shaped into a crescent moon, still glowing from the hearth's heat. It was very complex or well made, but it was at least something.
One day I'll be able to make something truly beautiful, Salamander thought to himself. One day.
