The only one of his parent's hatchlings to be born with the solid, crystalline wings of their mother, Tisiphone is a Praecantilion like most of his other siblings - they share a strain of vampirism unique to their family. As opposed to traditional vampirism, the Praecantilion feed not on blood exactly, but magickal essences that can be found in blood. In addition, they are able to absorb these essences either via drinking the blood directly - similar to traditional vampires - or by scratching them with their claws.

Tisiphone views his vampirism much like he views his wings - an arduous and heavy burden. Though his two coatl siblings stayed on the ground with him, he envied the other hatchlings' ability to glide and fly - more than once he attempted to jump from some high platform for some small facsimile of flight. Well into adulthood, the kaleidescope of fire1 in his wings remains a sore subject, although many others have envied their luster.
