A child of the Shadow Flight, Midas had always been self conscious of his golden colors, thinking himself as a lesser dragon of the Shadows. In an attempt to compensate his feelings of non belonging, he devoted himself to the Shadowbinder as no other dragon in the clan had, always trying to dress the part of a devoted Shadowling. Eventually, it stopped being just a way to make Midas feel better about his insecurities and it started to bring him comfort. His clothes didn't weigh as much as they once had, and his belief turned from forced into a source of strength. Even with his better self confidence, Midas still had the moments where looked at himself and saw a shiny, golden dragon more fitting for the Light flight and wondered if he truly belonged where he was born.

Midas carried on with his life until one fateful night, in which he had a dream where the Lady of Shadows herself came to him and praised his devotion. Upon waking up, he found the favor of the Lady upon him, marking him as a true Shadow dragon.
