Biography

Ren traveled from the Windswept Plateau to the Sunbeam Ruins, and now resides here, in the Viridian Labyrinth. He was surprised to find that this clan had no monarchy at all. When he and StormFlower arrived he asked to see their monarchs. When Blaze gave him a puzzled look and said, "Monarchs? We don't have any monarchs here" he was taken aback. "Well, then who is your leader?"
"We don't have a leader."
"What? Who makes the rules? Who is in control?"
"I guess we all do, but all of us listen to Noodle, Lightning, and Mei."
After Ren had seen the three, and joined the clan, he went on saying that in order to have a functional clan, said clan must have rulers.
"As a member of this clan, I say that we need two rulers."
"Why would we want that?" Noodle asked bluntly.
"Well, because... we uh... need... uh... we need someone to make rules!" Ren didn't like how this rude spiral was objecting him. If he hating anything, the thing he loved to hate the most, was being wrong, and this spiral made him feel that way.
"We don't need rules. Everything here is fine. If we need rules, I'm pretty sure the clan can make them!" Noodle replied angrily. She scowled at Ren. "I hope you know how dumb your point of view is. Our clan is fine! We have good protection," she gestures to herself, "we are kind of advanced by means of science, a little," she points a talon at Lightning, "and we have an excellent instructor of magic and alchemy!" Noodle finishes strongly and points at Mei.
"We don't need, or want your monarchy, Ren. However, we appreciate your urge to help the clan." Mei says calmly, but in a strange, foreign way, that makes it seem as though she was thinking about something else entirely.

Later that day, Ren was ranting on about how successful all the clans with monarchies were that he had seen.
"You want a monarchy, right?" Mei asked him in a hushed voice.
"Of course, having two dragons decide makes decisions quicker." Ren replied eagerly.
"All right. Then leave this clan alone." Mei responded almost too pleasantly.
"What was that?" Ren asked, startled.
"I said leave! You want a monarchy, but we say no. If you still want a monarchy then get out of here!" Mei harshly answered, throwing Ren even more off guard.
"W-w-w-why?" Ren trembled. This Mei fellow was a lot harsher than he had first thought. Maybe even harsher than that creepy military general spiral. Was her name Pasta?
Mei tipped her head back and cackled wildly, almost dropping her hat onto the lair floor.
"Got you! Did you really think I would be that cruel on you? I'll see what I can do. Do you have any preferences on who I should suggest as monarch?"
"Me, obviously! It was my idea after all!"

That night, Mei, Lightning, and Noodle met in the Cloud Sanctuary, similar in looks to the Cloudsong, and tethered to the tall, sturdy pine that grows above the main den. How the tree got there, when most of the trees in the labyrinth are broad leaf, no one knows. "It'll only be a constitutional monarchy!" Violently whispered Mei.
"I could be researching on how to better-"
"You should spend less time "researching" in general, Lightning!" Noodle exclaims, batting Lightning on the head.
"Yes Mei, I agree with you. Ren and a chosen queen of his pick, will symbolically be our rulers, but who'll be in their parliament?"
"Well, I think it should be dragons who have varied abilities, and thoughts, so that they get the full perspective of the issue at hand." Lightning quietly remarks. Both Mei and Noodle turn their heads to him.
"That is the smartest thing I've every heard from you." Noodle says shocked.
"Gee, thanks." Lightning says, very sarcastically.
"He's also right for once. The dragons also have to be likable, and have gained the clan's trust, too."
"Shouldn't we have a public vote?" Lightning says. "I want to head back to my lab and try-"
"No, because then he'll know he's not really a monarch, and that he's a powerless stone head!"

So, the next day, the three appointed him as the patriarch, and he then appointed StormFlower as his matriarch, and Mei, Noodle, and Lightning were his parliament.
