Biography

ge

memory witch

It is her burden to remember. It always has been.

Since she was young, Ge had an extraordinary memory. She remembered almost every day of her life, even her birth, and there wasn't a detail that passed her by. It was impossible to trick her if she already had the right information, and it was impossible to surprise her if she had any hints. She would not forget a thing. Could not, perhaps. Her memory was iron-clad, and she held that truth near and dear to her heart.

It meant she never missed birthdays or anniversaries, and that she always remembered what her loved ones wanted or hated. It meant she could read and read and read, and that knowledge would be with her always, ready at hand whenever it was needed.

But it also meant that unlike most witches of Nyx Coven, she remembered her death with perfect clarity.

She was killed for what she knew, for seeing what she never should have seen. She watched an Imperial and two smaller cohorts creeping through the clan one evening, had witnessed the way they loitered around, chatting with everyone who was still awake. Worst of all, she saw the Imperial plant his magical bomb, and she warned everyone before it was too late.

The clan was supposed to catch the three dragons. Everyone was supposed to be safe once the bomb was defused. But it wasn't the magic that killed Ge. It was the retribution for protecting her clan, for knowing the faces of the dragons who had tried to destroy it.

She remembers every breath she took as she bled out on the barren rocks, remembers every wave of pain that ushered her closer to death. And she remembers waking with her wounds healed, her heart heavy in her chest.

Her death haunts her, as do the faces of her killers, whom she assumes are still at large. As far as she knows, they were never heard from again, but until she sees it for herself, she will never believe herself safe from their reach. Even moving to the Sunbeam Ruins has not put her heart completely at ease, far away from her home though it may be.

But she does take comfort in her newfound magic, though, as it lets her take the memories of anyone who gives them. She can change memories, too, dull them or give them new life. The recipient of her magic must be willing, but given how many dragons have pasts they wish to forget, there is never a shortage of voluntary surrenders. Ge is paid well for her services, and rests easier at night knowing that someone else rests more easily, too.

As of late, though, her magic has shifted in a troubling way. Once, she removed memories without pause. Now, though, the memories she takes or changes must be shared first. She is beginning to collect memories that are not her own, and they buzz around her head like flies each night, vicious and hungry for something she cannot give. How many more can she take?

flight representatives

light_rune.png 24694441.png Lux is the Lightweaver's resident priestess in Nyx Coven. She is responsible for keeping the lanterns of the Hewn Shrine lit at all times, as well as for tending to the historical records. Their accuracy and truth is of the utmost importance to her.
shadow_rune.png 30975533.png Umbra has pledged her service to the Shadowbinder, and resides in the Hewn Shrine as an emissary of the Shadow Flight. It falls to her, holder of the cards, to determine if a dragon's past, present, and future align with the ways of Nyx Coven, or if they must be sent on their way. She will not allow shadows to accumulate over her home so long as she lives.
earth_rune.png 28884696.png Cespes, devoted priest of the Earthshaker, is a dragon of the utmost patience. It is he who handles all confessions delivered to the Hewn Shrine, provided the confessor does not wish to speak to a specific representative. His slow, steady nature has made him a comforting presence, and his optimism towards change has helped soothe the hearts of many.
fire_rune.png 35473664.png A long-serving priestess of the Flamecaller, Flamma has been in the service of her deity longer than many of her colleagues. As such, her duties are not only to Nyx Coven, but to the sacred flame kept in her portion of the Hewn Shrine. The flame must not go out, as it is a symbol of the Flamecaller's extended reach, and Flamma guards it fiercely. New initiates to any order of worship must go through her ferocity first.
wind_rune.png 31828293.png While most of the representatives of the Hewn Shrine remain within the boundaries of the Shrine itself, Ventus is frequently seen preaching abroad, or running errands on the Shrine's behalf. He has the wanderlust of the Windsinger in his heart, and a devotion to his god that cannot be properly expressed in only one place. Travel is part of the Windsinger's good word.
water_rune.png 32511662.png A former mariner and warrior, Pontus has come into the service of the Tidelord through a series of violent mishaps at sea. He longs for his old life, as evidenced by the time he spends scrying up images of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but the love he has for his god shines through when he receives prophecies and omens that must be spread throughout Nyx Coven at once.
lightning_rune.png 25783761.png Fulgur, once an engineer in the Shifting Expanse, now serves Nyx Coven as its immediate link to the Stormcatcher. They are a steadfast, single-minded dragon, and their efficiency makes their deity proud. It is their responsibility to structure the needs of the Shrine and to execute the completion of regular tasks.
ice_rune.png 30279097.png Nyx Coven does not formally have a prison, but the dark, unsettling halls of the Hewn Shrine do well enough when trouble arises, and Gelus is a fine jailer. He has always had a complicated relationship with both justice and the Icewarden himself, but within the Hewn Shrine, he adheres neatly to his duties, executing justice with a clean coldness.
plague_rune.png 36798463.png Pestilentia is a vivacious and dedicated servant of the Plaguebringer. Within the Hewn Shrine, she tends to the sick and wounded with the help of her mate, a rare dragon allowed within the heart of such hallowed grounds. Additionally, she is the first line of defense against new contagions that reach the Coven.
nature_rune.png 41985149.png Natura has spent her entire life devoted to the Gladekeeper, and puts that devotion to work in the Hewn Shrine by tending to small garden plots that surround the building. She can also be found outside the Shrine, bringing blessings of life and growth to locals in exchange for treasure or food, or with the Nyx Coven queen, planning for the coven's wealth and well-being in the future.
arcane_rune.png 27212879.png In the spirit of the Arcanist, his patron deity, Animus is more of a scientist than a priest. He dedicates his time to discoveries in the name of his deity rather than prayers, and has been responsible for more havoc than peace. However, he is often called upon to dispel curses through his erratic magic, a skill which may be one part knowledge and one part divine blessing.
