It was Dream who found him, abandoned on the edge of the clan's territory. She brought him before Carasu, making the clan matriarch aware of the fact that he was likely cursed due to the markings he bore, but asking if they could give him shelter despite this. Carasu consulted with the clan's witch, Meabh, who confirmed Dream's suspicions, but stated that she thought she could keep it in check. With the powerful but somewhat unpredictable witch promising to raise and care for the child, along with her mate Hirci, Carasu agreed to allow him into the clan.

However, she made the mistake of allowing Dream to name the Coatl hatchling. Much like she had named herself, Dream named the little Coatl "Marked for Death", and insisted they call him "Marked" for short. Carasu isn't sure why she puts up with her clanmates sometimes, but she knows they will do their best to care for and protect the newest addition, who will hopefully overcome his curse.
