Enchantress

"Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, starlight and dewdrop are waiting for thee."

On the day of her hatching, she would not be greeted by a welcoming mother. There was no father standing by to protect her. No, when she emerged from her shell, she found herself alone. Whether she was abandoned or stolen from her clutch, she will never know. What she found instead on that fateful night was her calling. By some works of luck, her egg had been left in the Starwood Strand. When she broke free of her shell, the world was bright. When her eyes finally adjusted to this strange world, she was awestruck by the beauty of it. The flowers of the Starwood trees were lit up in the light of the moon, twinkling like millions of dazzling stars. The way the winds blew through the branches was like the gentle, calming cascading music of wind chimes. She never cried that long night, for she did not feel fear. The Starwood Strand was known to be a place of wonder... and a place where many dragons became lost to it's calling.

It would not be until morning when the blooms closed and the sun broke over the horizon that she finally called for help. For hours, she cried for the parents that should have been there to greet her. No one came. Her first day truly alive, she was alone. She found a patch of brush to curl up under and rest. She hid during the daylight hours, sleeping in the safety of cover, but as soon as the sun had set and night took its place, she ventured out. Sure enough, the flowers had bloomed, and the trees were alive with brilliant light reflecting from the shining moonlight. She could never see the actual stars, for the towering canopy above her blocked it from view. To her, this was what night was.

Time went by. By day, she slept, and by night, she ventured out, entranced by the transformation that happened every time the sunset. It wasn't until one morning when the dew had just formed on the grass and the birds began to sing and she was about to head off to sleep that a commotion caught her attention. Still a hatchling, her curiosity won the best of her. She set out to find the source of it. In a small clearing, a dragon, the first she had ever laid eyes on, was settled on a fallen log, stretching out its wings. She thought she was hidden, but her shiny scales in the sunlight must have caught its attention. Though frightened, the stranger to her home coaxed her out with one thing she desperately needed: food. Greedily, she ate. It turned out that this dragon was traveling, a simple representative of two neighboring clans. They were on their return trip home. Perhaps they felt guilty to leave a young hatchling alone, but for whatever reason, they took her back to their clan.

She was welcomed with open arms. Yavie herself gave her with the name 'Arasinya'. Their neighboring clan, one of the Arcane flight from which was her previous home, had gifted them with a star for their celebration, naming one in the sky as a token of their alliance, and Yavie deemed that Arasinya herself was a gift as well. Arasinya had hope that perhaps the clan Yavie spoke of was where her parents were, but Yavie shook her head sadly. "There are no records of any dragons living there who could produce a creature as beautiful as you." Though the words were meant as a compliment, it still left a distasteful sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.

When night came, she waited for the flowers to bloom, yet none came. Alarmed, she sought Yavie and asked her what was wrong. Yavie, aware of the Starfall Isles and it's natural landmarks, had to explain it to her. It was a gift of her birthplace, and now that she was here, it was forever lost to her. She would simply have to adjust.

It wasn't going to be that easy.

The clan accepted her primarily nocturne schedule. While much of the clan slept, Arasinya worked. She collected lanterns, candles, and anything that glowed or could produce light. Now a young dragon, she sought to make a sanctuary of her own here within the Viridian Labyrinth. After much work, she found a place within the Shrieking Wilds where she could set up her den. Here, not even the sunlight could break through the darkness created by the dense canopy. It was as if the Glademother had gifted her with an area of eternal night. Filling the trees with all sorts of lanterns and glowing crystals, the light was nothing short of the work of the Arcanist. Lights reflected off shimmering pools of water, creating an illusion of much more light than there actually was. It wasn't the Starwood Strand, but it was the closest she would find here in the Glademother's domain.

As time moved on, Arasinya learned how to wield magic, specifically spells in which she could enchant her world with artificial starlight. Slowly, as the clan progressed and became stronger, so, too, did she. Crafters build wind chimes at her request, and her realm is littered with them. In the gentle breeze, the sweet melodies can be heard all throughout the Viridian Labyrinth. The music draws unsuspecting dragons in, too curious about the songs from within. When they reach her domain, they are entranced by the beauty she has created. Too many find themselves unable to leave.

Just like home.

Arasinya, though reclusive by nature, is a soft-spoken and timid sort. She is well adjusted to her nocturnal schedule, which is the only reason she seems to avoid others. She feels safe when she is blanketed under the brilliant lights she has created. She's extremely intelligent, as most Imperials are. Though an Arcane dragon by birth, she gladly accepts the Glademother's blessing, so long as she can continue to grow stronger to perfect her replication of the place of her birth.
