Ferdinand

Ferdinand came to the clan at a young age, not long after Pengana and Gaheris laid claim to the land. He was a shy hatchling and lurked on the borders, not wanting to intrude on this territory yet feeling a strong pull to stay. Despite trying to leave multiple times for fear of the punishment he may face for being so close to claimed territory, he was always drawn back. He was approached one night by the founders of the clan, and with almost a wordless exchange he was welcomed into the clan. Soon it became apparent why his instincts to stay were so strong, as his arcane magic abilities were far above average despite his having no training.

He had a mate for some time, a snapper whom he had much affection for, but hesitated to say he loved. She always spoke of her dream to serve the Gladekeeper, who rescued her when she was spurned by her own clan and deity, and Ferdinand found it hard to give his all to her when he received so little in return.

When she finally did leave she asked Ferdinand to come with her. But the dragon looked around him, and knew he had a true, better purpose staying right where he was and performing as the mage of the clan. His divination abilities had grown, and he knew that whatever deity had led him here had done so with a purpose. So they said their good-byes, and she was soon gone from his mind.

He is much happier with his new mate Dewey, who shows him the love he had never experienced from his previous mate. They had only two hatchlings together, as Ferdinand felt the need to do so since his previous mate wanted many children to serve the Gladekeeper as well. But Dewey understood his reluctance, and after the first clutch did not suggest it again.

Despite not wanting to have any more offspring, during the total eclipse Dewey stumbled upon a lone arcane egg just outside the territory borders. He called out, searching for the parents, but there was no one around. The moment he touched the egg it cracked, and the small head of Nova popped out. As soon as their eyes met, Ferdinand was enamored, and took his new prodigy back to the clan. Nova settled in nicely in Dewey and Ferdinand's lair, and no one in the clan thought about blinking twice at this perfect new addition to the family.
