As the prince and princess of Riversong and son and daughter to the richest nobel in the central front, Gier and Njala had a lot to live up to. Birgir was determined to let his children have the life that he never could have when he was younger. Although, this led to the two being wild animals in their younger lives, running up and down the banisters, using their magick to freeze pursuing guards, etc.

When the twins began to grow, however, their personalities swelled. Njala was always much more taken to her mother. Although no pain was to be taken to her father, she couldn't help be curious of her mother's role in the clan: a Seer.

In an act of self-sacrifice, Njala became a Seer to Eberict (Icewarden) as to free her mother, from her trauma. However, this plagued a curse on the twins. Their deep blue wings would always be topped with ice, their eyes would always be glazed over like a morning frost, and their breath would always be seen, for their heart did not beat.

- Old Norse form of Niall (see NEIL). This is the name of the hero of a 13th century Icelandic saga, based on the life of a 10th-century Icelandic chieftain.

- Meaning & History
From the Gaelic name Niall, which is of disputed origin, possibly meaning "champion" or "cloud". This was the name of a semi-legendary 4th-century Irish king, Niall of the Nine Hostages.

In the early Middle Ages the name was adopted by Viking raiders and settlers in Ireland in the form Njal. The Vikings transmitted it to England and Scotland, as well as bringing it back to Scandinavia. It was also in use among the Normans, who were of Scandinavian origin.
