Biography
"As long as you're here, I solemnly swear to protect you from any harm. You are safe."
HOARD: |
ABOUT GARDENIA It was a normal patrol, simply checking the lair territory to ensure there were no lost or invading dragons. She had taken Liriel along at the wizard’s request and was trying to strike up a conversation. Nothing hinted at danger, yet it waited just around the corner. Or, more specifically, behind a rocky outcropping. Some desperate outlaw ambushed the two and in the following struggle managed to wound Liriel before escaping with a handful of supplies. Gardenia was left crouching over her lairmate, blood pounding in her ears. Every protective instinct her breed held was screaming for her to rush after that blasted intruder and make him pay for what he did. Her wings twitched with tension, and small ice crystals were forming on her blade. Her eyes were glowing a cold, harsh white under her veil, but she fought against her own longings with all the willpower she could manage. After a few seconds that seemed to stretch into an infinite span of time frozen in ice, she managed to calm slightly. Just enough for her to shoulder the injured imperial and help him stumble back to the healer for treatment. ~ Gardenia is considered the perfect protector by her lair; she is noble, effective, and kind. She is seen as a warrior with a heart of gold, a light dragon at heart. Whenever intruders are spotted, she responds diplomatically at first, and even when situations deteriorate to fighting, she makes sure to drive them out with as little force as possible. Some of the clan aren’t even aware that she is truly a daughter of ice, and she does nothing to spread this fact. She hides her alignment with a sturdy veil, and as she is a physical fighter few have seen her use elemental magic. Those that do know her element claim that it has instilled her only with her calm in the face of danger. However, as with most dragons, this guardian does hold a few secrets tight to her chest. Beneath the carefully-crafted façade of serenity lies a beast that longs to lash out and rip its claws through all her enemies. It is driven not by the flames of anger, but by a cold lack of any empathy or compassion. It wants to make those who dare lay a claw on her lairmates pay, and often in ways that are slower and crueler than necessary. Gardenia tries to separate herself from this part of her, shoving it deep inside her chest. She tells herself that is just a part of her upbringing in the freezing lands of ice, that it doesn’t have to define her. She lies to convince her own mind that she is safe. However, ignoring this desire only lets it grow unnoticed, hiding behind her other emotions. It shields itself behind duty, behind anger, behind fear. It continues to grow, waiting for the day to spring to the forefront of her mind, to take control and finally exact revenge on all those who deserve such wrath. And it doesn’t forget; not one single offender will escape. It will make sure of that. This is an unending cycle, and it is prepared to wait for the moment to strike. It won’t fail again. credit: ❤ |
