Tainted Gold
Concept and Lore by Trubbish

Status: Endangered

Lore:

The Hewn City is cloaked in a mysterious shade, which deters many dragons from approaching. Tales of Hewn affected dragons, born in the darkness, are known throughout the Sunbeam Ruins. Although most dragons avoid the Hewn City as much as possible, there are a few brave dragons whose desire to unearth any possible treasures lure them in. A few visits in, their wings very slightly begin to darken- slowly, so you wouldn’t notice. Spurred on by their momentous finds within the ruinous city, they return for longer periods. The gold colours that they once so proudly displayed amongst their Light brethren becomes tainted, their wings being overtaken by the dark toxin. As the spreading toxin reaches their backs, their once bright bodies become as dark as shade. The core of their being, their glorious gold glimmer, is the only thing that remains… but for how long? With this much toxin, it is impossible to resist the pull of the Hewn City.

Habits/Personality:

Tainted Gold dragons often appear as weary and distracted. Their minds are usually elsewhere- still in the Hewn City, trying to find more archaeological items. They tend to get little rest as they spend as much time digging and searching as possible. Having one in a clan means having an effective scavenger or digger, the only price is that they are a little strange. Not a type for having close relationships, they keep to themselves however are polite. Tainted Gold dragons would prefer to keep watch over their scavenged goods upon returning to the clan, some breeds may become aggressive if others take the goods.

Diet/Hunting:

Tainted Gold dragons are not particularly skilled hunters, they tend to eat only when they happen upon something suitable while scavenging. Typically a Tainted Gold dragon would be underweight, unless fortunate enough to be a part of an understanding clan that would provide them with more ample sustenance. Even then, they often eat the minimum and return to the Hewn City as soon as possible. Tainted Gold dragons sleep very little, and always appear a little unwell.

Combat:

Tainted Gold dragons are not well suited to combat. They tend to avoid any skirmish, unless threatened with the possibility of an archaeological theft. Their attack style is that of a blind rage, with little skill involved. This is effective against dragons who are not fighters, but any dragon who has been fighting more than a week could easily defend themselves against the rage of a Tainted Gold. This of course, can vary depending on breed. They are likely to fight in a primitive style, as they do not think about their actions.
