Brewer | Apothecary | Mage    ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮ "Dangerous ills need dangerous medicine." - CELPIRA THE SERENDIPITOUS - ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Celpira came to the clan as a hatchling, but even then they had a place for her. She started off as an apprentice apothecary, passing between Komainu’s alchemical shop and Nix’s medicinal one as the occasion called for it. As she grew older, however, Celpira became a potion master in her own right. For a small cough or a fever, Nix’s shop holds the cure. For more serious ailments, Komainu is the best bet. However, for dragons suffering from serious afflictions—curses, magic, hauntings, and the like—Celpira’s shop is their reluctant refuge. Her remedies work, or at least they get rid of the problem, but the side effects are not always so pleasant. Hallucinations and chills, aches and pains that never quite heal—these are the price of a cure. Celpira does her best but really, what is a potion in the face of the beyond? How can she ever know how to appease a spirit with spiders when it craves blood or reverse an ancient curse with only a few herbs? These are not natural problems, but she strives to make natural remedies. Many politely decline Celpira’s help, but for those who have no other choice, her potions are elixirs of life. When she isn’t mixing potions, Celpira brews ciders and teas, in different pots of course. Strawberries, peaches, and apples all go into the pot and come out tasting sweet, fizzy, and refreshing. Even the most timid hatchling will brave the door to Celpira’s Potions, Remedies, and Cures for the promise of the sweet cider treat. For older dragons, her teas seem to bring peace and sooth aching joints. For all his sneering at magic, Jag is one of Celpira’s favorite customers, and she keeps him supplied in tea and cider for all occasions. Known only to the very notorious and very rich, Celpira has a few unsavory connections. With one hand she brews cider and cures, with another, she concocts the deadliest poisons. Mainly for study, these have a select trunk in her den and she never sells them, but a very rich dragon is known to have bartered a few low-potency potions off of her. And of course, Komainu buys her silence with every batch of potion she gives to Chinthe. Celpira is sure that Komainu is capable of brewing these potions herself, but who knows, maybe Komainu likes to share her secret with someone, and Celpira is a very good secret keeper. |
