Persephone crouched down carefully, her wings trailing gracefully behind her, and dipped her head to carefully examine the vegetation before her. It was incredibly tiny, almost imperceptible, but she had been waiting a long time for this moment. Her heart skipped a beat in excitement and then began to race within her breast as her joy overwhelmed her.

She hummed her pleasure before stretching out her a claw to oh-so-gently touch the bud with its vibrant blue hue nestled among jagged-edged leaves of the most verdant hue imaginable. A thorn tried to grasp at her tiny scales, but bumped over the ridges before she pulled away.

As she began to tend her garden she felt a shadow fall across her, and much of her work area, but a familiar scent and warmth made her smile before she looked up toward her partner, Hades. As always his presence filled her with a sense of safety and encouragement to continue to do and be her best. They were incredibly different, and yet...

She giggled, the monotone notes spilling forward as memories of their bizarre and wild courtship played through her mind. As if sensing her thoughts he coiled his long tail about her and caught her up as his chest rumbled with a playful, happy thrum that vibrated all the way into the appendage wrapped about her figure.

""It was not so very long ago that I first laid eyes upon you,"" he rumbled to her.

She leaned into his touch for a time and after a few playful words between them he released her to let her return to her work. Yet he lingered nearby, watching, knowing that his large claws were far too strong for this section.

""When these fully bloom,"" she told him, ""I want to preserve them in some of the tree sap we've prepared. They were so insistent that the seeds would never take after being twisted by the Blight, but I'm certain that they will be some of the most beautiful flowers to ever thrive here. It's been nearly a year.""

""You made even my withered heart bloom, little flower. Anything you care for is sure to become radiant. I will... try not to step on them this time.""

Persephone laughed. Oh, she had been so angry at the time when he'd mistakenly trundled through her special flower bed. But now he was so very careful and it made her smile. ""We will see when Spring arrives.""

And truly, she could not wait.
