SHE'S CLASSY...

______ A dragon would be lucky never to meet her. I can assure you that the excitement of knowing Thorn is no blessing, no matter how refined she may appear. Hiding behind those eyes was a dangerous dragoness, and rarely would I be willing to admit that it was only my suicidal belief in my own ability that kept me alive. But, well... here we are, and soon you'll know just why.

______ Thorn is a lady of refinement, that is assured. Polite, elegant; she moves as if swimming through air, with all the grace of a Maren and the gravity of a Reaper. Her words are no less tantalizing; whether mere utterances or grand stories, she is always speaking as if on a stage, and her every word calculated to endear. Perhaps that is why I met her at such an officious event, other than her obvious professional interest.

______ I was young, proud, and had just laid eyes upon a most gorgeous Coatl. Not only was she perfection, but she had the skill to back up that perfection with a powerful act, which led me across the room to her side. I greeted her with alarming disdain, and she responded with little more than intelligent curiosity; like the sort of child which gathers magnifying glasses simply to watch their lunch burn from the sun's rays, it seemed Thorn was happy to watch me suffer and flail with my failing skills, insulting and complimenting her in the same breath.

______ I was such a damned fool. I don't even know why I continue to live after how aggravatingly I treated Thorn. She is not a Coatl you want to upset, and by all means, she should be upset with me. Was it amusement? Was I beneath her notice? I can't say. I only met her once.

...AND DEADLY.

______ The night is quiet as padded footsteps reach the mouth of the foolish exalted's cave. There is no need for the flash of flame or the glint of claws; She prefers the most intimate method - a close embrace with a knife clutched in her maw, all it takes is a swift grip and a closeness more often related to lovers. She has his throat between her claws and her knife before he even wakes.

______ He stares up at her blearily, and in the darkness of the cave, she can tell he thought himself safe, the fool. Nobody is ever safe in a land of war and dominance, and yet, some dragons manage to disillusion themselves about safety, either too confident from battles with animals and beastclans or too sheltered to truly understand. She's miffed to find he's the latter. His throat bobs, and with the determined resignation of one who knows very little about death, he asks, "Why do you kill?"

______ The interesting ones always ask questions. It's fun to answer them. "Wouldn't you like to know," she hisses, in her native Coatl, tasting the syllables in a way only her night-time wanderings allow. Right up until he dies, she's certain he'll be distracted with the puzzle of her words. Switching to Draconian, she continues, "any last words?"

______ His jaw cracks open, and with one swift movement, her knife falls in, slicing beautifully through his neck. Blood splatters over her grinning face, the taste of iron strong in her throat. "I'm sorry," she whispers, arms dropping to let his cooling corpse fall to the floor. "but I'm afraid that those who know me only meet me twice."

She was deadly, yes - a deadly lady indeed. But oh, what a lady she was.

"Any good assassin knows to take every advantage they get."

"And if you don't... well, you'll wish you had soon enough."
