Gently, Pearlfeather nudged Auriga’s cheek with his snout. The beautiful Spiral was fast asleep right next to him, the star pattern on her scales glistering in the moonlight. Pearlfeather couldn’t help but chuckle. He was glad his winding path had him led here.

Personality

Pearlfeather is an old dragon and by far the oldest in the lair. However, questions regarding his age are answered with a smile only. He is a delicate and well-mannered dragon. He has seen many places and enjoys sharing his stories. His vanity never fails to amuse the other dragons of the lair, but even though he sometimes wrinkles his nose on less well-behaved dragons, he is well-liked for his open mind and sometimes fatherly attitude.

When Pearlfeather likes or dislikes someone, he will not hide this. Dragons he finds interesting he starts courting, while dragons he dislikes will have to live with sharp comments and cold shoulders. His mysterious smile is legendary, and many dragons try to imitate his behavior… something that makes Pearlfeather smile even more. He is an original and he knows that. Still, he never hesitates to help another dragon out, give good advice, and help a dragon find their own path. He knows how important it is to be true to oneself and to feel good in your skin.

Background

Pearlfeather just walked into the lair one day and did not leave again. Many have asked him where he came from, but the delicate Skydancer only smiled mysteriously and answered that fate had brought him here.

Indeed, that is no lie. Pearlfeather is a traveler, he has seen a large part of this world. Where his fate will lead him he cannot say beforehand, but he enjoys the uncertainty. He ran into Claudius on his travels and the Coatl did not really know what to do with Pearlfeather. For one, his fur is mostly white, but at the same time, colorful markings cover his entire body. However, Pearlfeather took that decision off of him, having no interest in joining the Arcanist’s ranks. He told Claudius so quite clearly, also telling him that he does not believe in mysterious sicknesses or bad omens. Then, Pearlfeather left, leaving the Coatl speechless.
Only a few hours later, Pearlfeather met Auriga, the young Spiral. Immediately intrigued by her wits and charms, he followed her to her home. That day, he became part of the Rose Spar.
All that is known of Pearlfeather’s life before the Rose Spar is that he has travelled different parts of the world and has had many different mates, both male and female. He is a father of many dragons, and while he has spent years with them all, he still never truly settled. Some dragons fear that he will leave this lair as well when the wind changes and not even Pearlfeather himself can truly say what his future holds.

From the very first moment the two dragons met, Auriga caught Pearlfeather’s attention. He noticed her cleverness, her wits, and her self-confidence. It intrigued him, and he wanted to learn more about her and the clan she lived with. Pearlfeather enjoys Auriga’s way of putting things the way she sees them, without softening diplomacy. He likes her honesty and her sharp tongue, qualities he hasn’t encountered often.

At first, Pearlfeather was unsure what to think of Alaysa as the leader of the Rose Spar. He noticed she had no experience and that she did not feel to comfortable in the role she had stumbled into. But he also realized the other dragons respected her for her kindness and good heart. He quickly decided to support her in her difficult task of keeping the peace between the diverse dragons and protecting them from Claudius and his followers. Lately, Pearlfeather realized that Alaysa grows more and more into the role, an observation that fills him with joy.

Pearlfeather always enjoyed talking to clever and inspiring dragons. Thus, he did not decline Miori’s request to be her mentor and muse. He admires the Skydancer for her ideas and the passion she puts into her art. Often, the two of them can be found sitting together in one of the caves, Miori’s workshop, or outside, discussing about art, philosophy, and anything else that captures their interest.

Auriga and Pearlfeather lost their daughter to a tragedy. One day, the hatchling wandered off into the forest and did not return. Summer saw her being taken by beastclan members, but she could not save the hatchling. Pearlfeather suffered from the loss, but he also knew he had to move on. He put all his strength into supporting Auriga and helping her back to her feet, looking forward into the future. However, he still wonders what happened to his lost child.
