Kaira
The Vessel
Rift Watcher description Kaira is a "yokai" (or spirit) from another realm; they take the appearance of a female wolf, brown of fur and blue of eyes with an impressive mane. Known as a "yama-inu" or "okami-inu" in their world, they used to look after the commoners of a well-known city. Mattered and bloody, their pelt shines with white highlights and patches if the light's angle hits it correctly. They do not speak with words, instead relying on body language and throat sounds to communicate. They are reclusive, and do not warm up easily, but are very loyal and would die for those they consider close to them. This wolf comes from a doomed world where a strong Evil force won over the Good, wiping out entire civilizations and turning into tortured souls or servants the surviving rest. The last survivor of their team of heroes, Kaira watched her friends die one after the other, before succumbing herself. Despite all their struggles, the team did not manage to do much to help the world's inhabitants, making her feel like their deaths were in vain and for nothing. Strangely enough, Shiranui - the Spirit Village's Protector - was part of said team, though the white wolf seems to have reincarnated long before the brown canid. Their reunion had been a very heartwarming one for both parties, though not one most of the community could understand without background. Kaira's weapon of choice is a golden bow, coupled with golden arrows. The artifact is seemingly animated by magic, unleashing bolts by itself without physical help from the wolf. It is unknown how she got it, or where its powers come from. Though they are now only a ghost of their former self, they still retain a bit of their powers - given to them by the gods of their world - and use it when the time for it arises.

NOTES - Kaira watched over the commoners of Sei-An City (from Okami.) - Always stalking through the street at night. - Her blue eyes could become glowing yellow. - I need to rewrite her lore so that it's more up to date, but yeah. - She and her friends are not in the Spirit VIllage anymore. - Through the Saving-The-World thing, Kaira died once before her legit death; she respawned, her coat becoming pure white for a short moment before fading back to brown. - Her eyes also became golden then; her whole appearance was like the powerless Amaterasu/Shiranui in canon Okami. - I still don't know why, but perhaps because she is a yokai? - Before the whole ordeal, at the beginning of her life (and before she came down to Nippon), she was living in a Celestial Forest, full of massive trees and with feet upon feet of leaf layers on the ground. In a large tree trunk, was living a large snake, who was overall more than 10 times her size and more than 30 time her length (also known as an Uwabami, a type of yokai). They were friends. - Said snake became a Quetzalcoatl upon Evil entering and destroying their Celestial domain, and had a large temple spawned for him in Nippon. He became one of the Evil's strongest allies. - There were a lot of creatures in the Celestial Forest, but I don't remember the others omg - All yokais or non-conventional living beings in general. - Kaira, due to her nature, weights nothing (thus being able to walk on layer upon layers of leaves without issue). - The Golden Bow was given to her by the Higher Spirits of Nippon, when they told her and her friends about their mission to save the World from Evil. - insert |
