Personality: Nephrius is a strange Guardian, Plague-born yet swearing allegiance to the Flamecaller. To this day no one in the lair truly trusts him, even Aulendra herself. Whether Nephrius has done anything to earn such mistrust or it is a prejudice stemming from his birthplace is unknown.

Nephrius largely keeps to himself and studies ancient arcane texts, and is surprisingly adept with magic. However, being born of the Plaguebringer, all attempts he has made to create druidic magic spawn twisted dead thorns and brambles, plague-spewing flowers, and other unnatural horrors created from the binding of such two different magics. It is because of this that he is also banned from becoming a warrior in the clan, despite his strength and proficiency with magic. Nephrius swears that he is honoring Aulendra's wishes and not conducting any more magical experiments, but there are times when the dragon mysteriously diverges off of his guard patrol route and dissappears into the Wastes for days at a time...

History: Nephrius was born of the Plague Flight. However, he never felt "right" there and was repulsed by their culture even at a young age. When the time for The Search came, he seemed intent to distance himself from his birthplace as much as possible. His very presence in the territory of Flame dragons was rejected, and he made several narrow escapes from clans who refused to accept one with his blood and instead saw him as an enemy.

Aulendra, despite a fierce hatred of the Plague flight, accepted Nephrius. She chose to do so because as a fellow Guardian she believed that if his Search brought him to these lands, he was meant to serve a purpose as a protector within the Flamecaller’s realm. Neprhius, along with all other Guardians in the clan, now serves as a guard. Each guard regularly patrols the borders of the Goldclaw clan by foot or by wing to make sure there are no lurking threats nearby.
