One would surmise that being born on the day of a super-blue-blood-lunar-eclipse would grant one with an innate, supernatural ability, but that would be pure speculation. In-fact, one could prepose that the heavens are aligned on any given day in which they are blessed by fortune, without regard for astronomy or astrology, marking such details meaningless. Celeste’s birth was special not because of the lunar anomaly that peeked overhead as she broke from the shell, but due instead to the chance at new life. A gasping, writhing, visceral being that was sentient and learning. Or rather pixels representing ideas for storytelling purposes. Needless to say, Celeste never really cared much for the event that left her with a permanent quirk. It was little more than an interesting fact to tell at parties, with no real merit for who she actually was. She detested the way people assumed she was some sky obsessed seer or cosmic sent blessing. Celeste was just herself, which was all she ever could be. She never expressed the powers her kind were rumored to posses. She most certainly would never admit to being jealous of such gifts, or that she harbored any spite and resentment toward the sphere that had granted them. It was just a rock, Celeste always told herself as she stared at the source of her torment during clear nights. It has no sway on me, no right to taunt me the way it does. She was a dragon of science after all, raised in a lightning clan, and filled with ideas of invention and hypotheses. What a silly notion it was to relate with made up predictions and useless fantasies. But she yearned to. Living in a fairy tale would make life so much easier. No matter how much distance she put between herself and the Moon it always came back. Celeste knew the cycle by heart; knew that when it peaked every 28 days, she would be reminded of her ineptitude and lack. She always got sad around that time of the celestial month. On the other side of the proverbial coin new moons were her favorite. There was no beacon to tear into her heart and make her ask “what if’s.” When there was nothing but stars and darkness, she was able to find herself and not feel over shadowed by a reflection. Celeste developed her habits and skills as she grew up; completely unwilling to attribute them to her birth patron. She craved accomplishments achieved only by herself, not abilities fictionally granted upon her with a flourish of a sword. If one equates the strengths she so carefully built up as blessings or natural abilities from her birth, then nothing on earth could quell her rage. She struggled to get where she is, no thanks to some blue-blooded rock. Celeste weaves tapestries infused with her magic. Small things like good luck, decent health, or other mild buffing runes. She is not the best fighter in the clan but can defend herself when necessary. Her fire attacks are most potent at long range, but up close she can still throw a decent searing punch. Celeste gets along well with Oscar. He is always so quiet and distant, but he listens to her rants and laughs at her jokes. She has a feeling he has something he isn’t telling her, but it’s only a suspicion so she tries not to focus on it. Misc:
Have you ever writen lore where the ideas just flow and seem to just write themselves? Yeah for me that was Celeste’s lore |
