______ Rictus came into the world in the darkness of night. The moon was high in the sky, but something was... off. As he broke free from his shell, the moon was shifting: the beautiful light was being blocked. The entire clan was out and about, all eyes eager to witness the strange phenomenon... all except for Sarojin and Leilani. They remained close to their nest, for they knew it was only a matter of time before their hatchlings greeted the night. By the time he had hatched, the moon was nearly completely gone... but that would not be the end of the event. When his vision came to, he was greeted by a glorious sight, as high up in the sky, painted against the dark canvas of night, was the moon making its appearance, now a vibrant crimson in hue. It left him and his brother awestruck; they did not understand yet what they were witnessing, but it attracted them like nothing else could.

______ The weeks following were quite hectic, as the clan rushed to receive word from their diety, the Arcanist, as to what to make of the passing event. Much of the clan was based on scholars, so everything needed to be documented. Even the warriors of the clan were absorbed in new tasks, leading groups to and from the observatory. This would prove to make training difficult. It fell upon Arsenic to lead the way. He, along with his brother, would be escorted to the Coliseum under his watchful care, though the weeks ahead would prove cruel. Though Arsenic was well trained himself, it was a burden to try and look after two youngsters who had no previous experience. They had to learn fast, lest they wind up victims to the various beasts they faced.

______ Rictus was hardened by the grueling experience, but he was also humbled by his struggles. It has left him with an appreciation for the way of the warrior, and he does not carry his title lightly. He is proud but soft-spoken: he does not boast of his achievements, but he will hold his head up high. He is eager to do his work, and he knows that wherever the winds take him, he will always remain a loyal protector of those who can not defend themselves.

B I O G R A P H Y

______ Tasked with finding a fortress out in the wilderness Rictus comes across a spa instead. Enthralled in almost a dream-like haze he agrees to protect it, though he wouldn't discover this until waking in one of it's rooms. Honor binding him to it's location Rictus soon becomes friends with the other staff.

______ One day Koroko gave him the task of retrieving a shipment of oranges for the spa. A routine task, one with little risk. While packing up the boxes he happened across a tundra being pursued by what looked like giant, mutant variants of the species. The desperate dragon was helpless against these giants and so Rictus fought against them. He was felled by what he swore was blood-magic and when he awoke he was nowhere near his spa home... He was brought to an underground prison, described to him as a Gaoler's Ward for shade-beasts. Despite his protests that he is not an agent of the shade he, and the tundra he had tried to defend, were locked up.

______ For nine long year Rictus served his time. The Gaolers had no intentions of ever freeing him and he had come to accept his imprisonment. That was when some sort of pirate busted down the door, stole away with the Pearlcatcher prisoner and ran off into the night. Rictus did not hesitate, nor did his Tundra cellmate. They fled, under the cover of the night they bolted as far as they could from the Gaoler's ward. It had been too long since he had tasted the sweet air of freedom.
